Vital Information Name: Sakurako Hino Codename: Endeavor Concept: Sudden Genius Origin: Near-Death Experience Template: Tinker Virtue: Fortitude Vice: Paranoia Height: 5'8" Weight: 185 pds Nationality: Japanese, Neo Tokyo Arcology Age: 20 Hair: Pink Eyes: Purple Handedness: Left Blood Type: O+ Birthdate: January 8th, 2029 History and Eruption Sakurako was born in Tokyo on January 8th, 2029. Her parents, Kyoko and Ryoma were pararescue specialists in the JMSDF until they married when they took their discharge. The first couple years of their life was uneventful until a massive earthquake hit Tokyo in 2030. The tsunami and earthquake damage had leveled 2/3rds of the city, and Sakurako was at her Grandmother's at the time. Kyoko went in on her own using her skills even when Ryoma told her that Sakurako would be alright. In the subsequent day that followed Sakurako was rescued from her dead Grandmother's grasp, only to have her Mother drown in a building collapse while she was swimming with Sakurako. Afterward, Ryoma took to drinking to drown out the memory of his wife, and secretly blamed Sakurako for the death of his wife, and on Sakurako's 6th birthday it all came to a head as he lashed out at Sakurako, knocking her head into a table. He was tried and convicted on abuse charges, and Sakurako was left a functionally mentally disabled girl from the brain trauma. Left in the care of her Aunt and Uncle, Ai and Kentaro Hino. Ai worked on setting up temporary sheltering for displaced residents in Tokyo with her aerospace firm that developed portable shelters for lunar exploration. Kentaro is a archetectural engineer who worked on several of the structural designs for several of the Neo Tokyo project's arcology towers. Over time, it was apparent Sakurako could never live a normal life with the brain damage she suffered as she was barely able to have a conversation and her motor skills were practically nil, as she needed a walker to even keep on her feet. Although Ai and Kentaro did their best to make their little Niece as comfortable and happy as they could. Eventually Sakurako turned 19, and in the summer of that year she was taken out on a yacht trip with several of the higher-functioning people in her group home for a week on the water on a sailing yacht. While out in the pacific, Sakurako fell overboard, and her locator beacon was malfunctioning. Not really cognizant of the danger of drinking salt water, when she was thirsty she started drinking it profusely as she floated. It wasn't long before she was first violently ill, then dehydrated, then her kidneys shutting down from shock. Soon after she fell unconscious from shock and it was that moment when she Conflagrated. The spike of quantum energy got the attention of the Valkyries of the Guardians organization, and immediately went to the scene and found a girl still looking very ill, but it was obvious she was in the throes of a difficult Conflagration. She was taken back to Tokyo and hospitalized, with all sorts of nano-therapies used to help clean her blood stream and take the pressure off of her newly minted superhuman physiology so it could recover. While unconscious, Sakurako started reaching out to the nanites, and started using her new mental abilities to engineer herself a suit... as the nanites had a auto destruct anyways, Sakurako decided to reforge them from the ground up with any proteins and minerals she wasn't using. Doctors seeing how the unconcious girl was building what would end up being her signature suit was a marvel of superhuman physiology and neurology. By the time she was fully conscious, on her left wrist was a glove and wrist-band housing the system that would deploy her unique invention... her suit... By the time her Aunt and Uncle could get to see their girl, they say a girl transformed and repaired. Her brain was fully functional and Sakurako seemed to plug into any piece of tech to learn more. In the process she had to learn how to walk, although her body seemed to adapt quickly. By the time she was brought into the Paragons for her technical know-how and the usefulness of her "nanotex" E-Suit, She was trained up, and brought to speed with the world. Although socially... she needed time to adjust. Disposition Sakurako is a quiet girl, unassuming although attentive. She's used this strategy to learn how to operate socially, and she has some filters, but she still doesn't feel comfortable socially. She dissapears into her love of various media and gaming, seeming like the typical nerd in all accounts. She keeps her naturally pink hair short, opting to change the hair color with over-the-counter hair color treatments to make her hair and eyebrows black again, although she's been doing that less and less. She doesn't have much of a fashion sense, and doesn't feel comfortable at all unless she has one of her different sailor outfits on, although such a thing makes her look immature or plain obsessed with popular culture (however antiquated some of her outfits are). Hobbies and Distractions Sakurako volunteers at the day center where she spent her time after getting out of school, helping the people that at one time she was a part of, partially as she still feels a connection to them, but also she considers some of the higher-functioning individuals as friends. She also has started taking up sailing, although she hasn't had much time for that, she also indulges in skydiving and is starting to take an interest in flying racing-grade aircraft. Name: June O'Gara Codename: Whirlwind Birthplace: Liverpool, England Birthdate: January 8, 1920 Age: 21 Early Background June O'Gara was born to a World War One veteran and a Military Nurse in a neighborhood in the dock districts of Liverpool, England. June throughout her childhood had a Tomboy streak, and that was further fueled by her use of a Ætherlabe. She was known to get into fights to protect her friends from being bullied, and in sticking up for people. To channel her energy, Her father taught her how to hunt, starting her off with a small pistol since he wagered that she couldn't handle a rifle. She proved him wrong by showing him she was a crack shot. She also learned a few things about first aid from her Mother, who had plenty of experience during the great war patching up injured soldiers. In fact she spent most of her time putting bandages and other sundry medical implements on her brother, a reckless thrill seeker. She loved her brother dearly, and it is believed this was the trigger for her powers to manifest. Her brother enlisted in the Royal Navy right on graduation. He served admirably, but without any distinction that made him stand out. But on July 5 1940, the destroyer he was stationed on, the HMS WHIRLWIND was sunk by a U-boat torpedo, Southwest of Ireland. No one could find him during the rescue effort, and was pronounced dead. When the news got back, June was devastated. Then her Dynamic powers manifested in a pair of glowing wings of light. After the funeral, She decided to start bettering herself, although the call to action would grab her when the Blitz came to England. Her home town of Liverpool was ransacked and her family moved to Cardiff with other family members to avoid the bombs and air raids. June stayed when Winston Churchill heard of her other powers. It was known to Ministry of Defense that she was a flier, and they considered tapping her to join the WAAF, but Churchill had other plans. Now June acts as a agent of rescue, answering to the Minsitry of Defense under direct supervision of Winston Churchill himself. Answering the call however she can to rescue downed pilots and injured soldiers behind enemy lines. Some see her as a inspiration, others an annoyance as war is a gentleman's job. But none can question her heart, her patriotic sense of duty, and her conviction. She bears the code name Whirlwind, a request from June herself so that she can bear witness and give honor to the men lost on the HMS Whirlwind, including her dear brother. Appearance and Personality June off duty is a kind, humble woman. Always willing to lend an ear and sometimes give advice. On duty though, she is by the book and driven. Although she won't sacrifice others to complete a mission. Some see this as a weakness, but so far, her casualty rates on her support teams has been quite low. June off duty wears whatever she can off of her ration cards, while on duty she wears a navy-blue, sailor collared one-piece jumpsuit with a red beret. She's made sure that her outfit on duty doesn't match any sailor's uniform she works with, and it has a sort of pin-up quality to it, although it is rather modest and tasteful. She's also not above to wearing any important gear she may need on her missions. She has ginger red hair, piercing green eyes, and freckles over the bridge of her nose. She bears a scar on her right arm after a nasty fall in her youth into a lake that nearly drowned her.

She dresses simply but attractively, favoring shirts and pants that flatter her figure and accentuate lithe curves of her body. Her voice is light and pleasant to listen to. Appearance (true form): As her true self, Aderyn has a crest of beautiful feathers framing her face and her movements are a graceful dance even when only walking or doing mundane tasks like cleaning and cooking. Her skin takes on a golden luster and her eyes become inhumanly intense and flecked with gold. She does not seem to have ears in this form, but doesn't seem to suffer any loss of hearing; her voice becomes even more entrancing, a pleasurable indulgence for anyone in range to hear her. Powers, Skills, and Personality Known Powers: Aderyn can heal with her singing and takes time to help out in the school clinic, especially when arms practice is in full swing or competitions are going on at the school. Although less than a dozen people at the school have ever seen it and so it remains mostly a rumor, she can harm with her voice just as easily as she heals. Abilities/Special Skills: Aderyn is an accomplished performer and cook, both services that she provides to her Verndarin, Resak, and to others if he permits. Personality: Aderyn is usually quiet and congenial, allowing herself to slip into the role of hostess and invisible servant when tending to Resak; when on her own at the Academy, she is still reserved but quite friendly if approached. She is fiercely loyal to her Verndarin and will defend him vehemently against any attack on his reputation or character. She will do the same, though to a lesser extent, for his younger brother, Shinriki. Background When the Wise Woman of the Iron Fangs tribe found she was with child, she and her husband ordered their verin to mate to produce a Songbird child to be their child's verndarin. Songbird pregnancies are shorter by a few months than Nibelung pregnancies, allowing Aderyn to have been born nearly two weeks before Resak, an auspicious sign among both Songbirds and Nibelung for the two infants. Her childhood was fairly typical of a Songbird born to be verndarin to a noble Nibelung child: she had the advantage of living in luxury, but was still Songbird and suffered the whims of her verndarin and his friends. Neither particularly cruel or kind, Resak treated her as a confidante, servant, and personal whipping boy by turns. When Resak's father determined that he would send his son to the Monster Academy, he declared that Aderyn would be left in the Northlands, as Resak would be well-protected at the school and there were questions on how well the Academy would honor the bond between Songbird and Nibelung. Aderyn panicked, well aware of how far her social standing would fall - from near the apex to below the lowest-born Nibelung and Songbirds - if she was left in the Northlands without her Varin. She begged Itakshir to allow her to accompany Resak, and when that proved useless, appealed to Huisak and the close bond the Wise Woman shared with own varin, Laesh. Huisak interceded with her husband and a compromise was reached: Aderyn would attend the school with Resak, so that they were not strangely separated and so that Aderyn could learn what she would need to understand to serve Resak as he grew into his power, but she would declare herself female to school and room in the girl's dorm, so that Resak would have to room with another boy and learn to interact with other monsters. She saw the changes in Resak after the first year, but didn't truly appreciate the new depths of her Varin until the last break from school. Resak and number of other Nibelung noble-borns decided to go hunting in the Little Mountains just south of the Great Glacier. They were hunting wraith beasts, large leonine creatures with pure white fur that made them nearly invisible in the snows - clever and strong prey that would earn the boys a great deal of prestige if they brought one down, and a fine pelt to gift a girl for whoever struck the killing blow - when they awakened an Earth-Child, violent rock elementals that could take an entire tribe to kill if it were an greater Child. The Nibelung children did as they'd always been trained when faced with a foe they could not defeat - they ran and left their Songbirds to die for them. Resak ran until he heard the first Songbird scream, even the snapping of the Songbird's bones sounding like a lyrical accompaniment to the melodic tones of their death-cry. He turned back, unwilling to allow the same fate to fall on Aderyn. It took over an hour and the death of two more Songbirds before he managed to kill the Child, luckily a younger elemental not yet adorned in full mantle but still strong enough to break Resak's arm and leave him with a dozen scars down his side for his efforts. When they returned to the Iron Fangs, the tribe was arming to rescue the son of their chief. Once word spread that Resak had returned - the Earth-Child slain and a half-dozen young Songbirds in tow - he was declared Mountain-Killer and his childhood was officially over. He became the Verndarin and Aderyn his varin, while the other Nibelung were shamed for acting as little children and allowing two Songbirds to die instead of standing with Resak when he turned back. Aderyn had never heard of a Varin ever saving their Songbird verndarin before - sacrifice is what Songbirds are for while Nibelung are still children - and her loyalty to Resak now borders on the fanatical. She works even harder to be a Songbird worthy of a Chief of Chiefs, as she is certain Resak will take that mantle when his father dies and she refuses to ever be a shame to the man that saved her life when all his childhood training should have left her to be crushed and eaten by the Earth-Child.

  6. Lady Anne Mary Aceworth Lady Anne Aceworth was born in London, England on 1 June, 1916 to Captain Hampton Reginald Aceworth and Lady Abigail Armstrong Aceworth (Deceased). It was a trying time, while the good Captain was fighting the German navy in the north Atlantic, far away from the Battle of Jutland that raged on the other side of the British isles, Lady Aceworth was having a struggle of her own. Her labor was over two days in legnth, and in the end, after the birth of her daughter, she barely had a chance to name her daughter before Abigail perished from child birth. Captain Aceworth was called back to London and within the month moved to the London offices of the Royal Navy's admiralty. Sir Aceworth welcomed the new duties, and treasured being close to his daughter, but he thirsted to be out there in the seas that were rightfully the empire's, and he swore to fight to the last. By the time he was able to captain another ship, the war was fully over and the Armistice was signed. During the great Flu of 1918-1920, Captain Aceworth was scared for the safety of his daughter, so during that time, after his comission was over and he was a civilian once more, he bought a ship that was being scrapped due to the terms of armistice and used it as a home. He sailed out in the newly minted "SS Aceworth" to tour around the isles and around the world. As Anne grew older, tutors were hired and Sir Aceworth taught her the many intricacies of seamanship... she never seemed to pay much mind as she watched dreamfully the aircraft that flew over her. Although she loved being in the engine room and learning about the engines and mechanically intrinsic nature of the ship. In 1928, Anne's father volunteered to be a radio relay for Amelia Earhart's trans-atlantic flight. Anne listened intently to every moment and even saw, if but a breif moment Amelia's airplane. That's when she knew she had to be up there. Seeing the worth of Anne's dream, he began to see to it she had the best trainers and equipment anyone could have. He even sold the SS Aceworth to buy a hangar and plane for her. Times were tough during the depression, But in 1933, those who dared to fly could make a living. It was a different culture among pilots. And Anne was unique. She took to seaplanes like she took to any other aircraft. Seeing as such, her father on her 18th Birthday in 1934, gave her her own, fully equipped seaplane. It was then her other skill flourished... she was a natural engineer. In a year she had remodeled her birthday gift to be amphibious, so it could land on a runway or on water easily! Lady Anne Aceworth didn't like seeing her name carry more weight than her deeds, but one fateful day would solidify her as a ace pilot. She was picked to copilot a trans-Atlantic mail service run from Dover to France in the plane owned by her boss, a man who trusted her navigational skill and knack for fixing problems on the fly. He found her style of wearing almost as much gear as a RAF pilot odd, but thought it cute in a way. Half way across the channel, storms raging, his appendix burst. She had to act quick so she floored the throttle and flew the plane to near breaking back to the closest city on the British coast. Her skill and bravery in a storm, low fuel, and even losing one engine earned her respect. Saving her boss made her a local legend. Among Aviatrixes she earned the name "Osprey" for her tenacity like the sea bird she gets her "callsign" from. Over the next couple of years, she flew, gaining more experience as a pilot and discovering she had more talent than she thought she had. Rumblings of another war with Germany and people speaking of needing good pilots interested her... and that is where we stand now. Of course, her souped up amphibious seaplane is up for the task as well! Personality Lady Aceworth is Friendly, Lighthearted, and Youthful. She's kind, but not easily fooled by chicanery and does not take kindly to dishonest people. Con men even more so. She holds herself to higher ideals, such as charity, honesty, and a strong moral compass that she won't stray unless she literally had a gun to her head. Appearance and Manner of Dress Anne has brown hair, blue eyes, stands average height for a woman of 22 years and has a slightly thinner frame. Her freckled face and kind and beaming smile makes her look much younger than she really is. She usually wears whatever is comfortable, sometimes taking a shine to a surplus royal navy seaman's shirt and classic near-white pilot's pants. When flying she adds a dark brown jacket, holstered M1911 pistol, A parachute and life preserver vest she managed to buy through her Father's connections with the royal navy and it's air assets. Sometimes people find it hard to tell she's a girl in that gear unless she wears her hear out or in low-hanging pigtails underneath her flight cap. "The Spirit of Cardiff" The Spirit of Cardiff is her heavily modified seaplane, capable of using runways or seaports, the Spirit of Cardiff is a medium sized seaplane, capable of taking some cargo and a few passengers. She's heavily modified from her original form but from what you could see of her you could not tell. It has a extended fuel capacity, and built-in fire extinguishing fail-safes added to the engines to prevent engine fires. Her eye for safety also usually means there's a couple life rafts and plenty of parachutes and life vests she can hand out if needed.
  7. Inoue was rescued from the Wraith by the team sent out to rescue Col. Sumner and the captured Athosians. She is very emotionally and mentally unstable and suffers from a somewhat mangled version of Stockholm's syndrome; accordingly, she has attached herself to Sgt. Yseult Moreau as her new 'Keeper'. Little else is known other than that she was a child on Atlantis when the city was abandoned and that her family name (or at least a second name) is Amara. She answers to Inoue now, but either seems confused or upset when pressed for memories about the city or her childhood. While she accompanied Sgt. Moreau on several missions off-planet, both Dr. Weir and Capt. Bates have done their best to ensure she has no contact with the Wraith. She seems to be adjusting to life with the Atlantis Expedition, but still does so in terms of a Wraith hive; neither the Expedition head nor the Head of Security is quite ready to test her loyalty to the Expedition (or at least Sgt. Moreau) nor her mental stability if faced with conflicting orders from the Wraith and Sgt. Moreau or any other Expedition member. Hesitation could endanger an entire team or even Atlantis itself. History: Inoue is the only remaining survivor of a warship that fled Atlantis during the end of the war. The captain, hoping that Atlantis would either somehow prevail against the Wraith or rally to Earth and return at a later date, purposefully set the ship to a near-lightspeed travel in order for time to pass. Once the ship came out of lightspeed travel, they were quickly spotted by the ship of a Wraith Keeper and attacked. During the battle, the remaining Lanteans decided it was better to die and destroy the ship than to allow their ZPM's or themselves to be taken by the Wraith. Inoue was one of the few Lanteans that the Wraith managed to capture before the ship exploded. They were all tortured for information, and all would have been executed except that the Keeper herself took an interest in the young Inoue. Still a child, Inoue's innocence and beauty amused the Keeper and she decided to keep the Lantean girl as a pet, giving her the mocking name Regina ("princess"). That was nearly four hundred years ago. The Keeper, along with an inner circle of male-caste Wraith on this ship with her, kept Inoue as a personal servant, sex slave, whipping post, and favored torture subject. "Regina" barely remembers who and what she is or that she had a life before the Keeper's ship, but buried deep inside her fractured heart and psyche is her true self: battered, broken, but still fiercely holding out for something, anything better than this.
