  1. What's new in this game
  2. <Of course I knew you'd notice, but of course it's all about you isn't? How someone should have told you first?> Her mother turns away and heads off to make a cup of coffee but her mental voice still comes through just as clear. <Well 'Genius' I suggest you start getting used to how the real world operates away from the Amanda-centred bubble your 'darling' father helped you maintain. You woke up in the First Class lounge at Heathrow airport, while I woke up three hours earlier in a crisis meeting room at the Embassy to find that roughly one in ten our staff and relatives hadn't made it, including the Ambassador. While you've been pissing people off acting like a spoilt brat, raiding bank accounts and buying porsches I've been in constant meetings trying to clear up some of this mess.> She re-enters the room, mug in hand, a mixture of anger and disappointment on her face. <So no, no-one warned you I was psychic, because I've been too busy to tell anyone!> "I only heard from Alex that you were one of the psychic survivors when I saw him on my way out of the office about ten minutes ago."
  3. Rebecca grinned. "Well I got a weird feelin' my style of movin' will be a bit more... well visual to say the least." She said as she brushed her poncho into place. "Then again I think we got plenty of time to start seeing exactly what we can do. I wouldn't be tryin' to move your atoms until you know you can do it without scatterin' yourself over the countryside." "Might invest in a parachute when I get set up to see when I can fly. Do some flying from high altitude and if I get tired or lose control I can turn off and have some time to get some falling speed to open my chute. Or the spare if necessary." "Might do it over water too to make the landings a bit safer. Might see if I can get my chutes as conicals instead of airfoil. Gotta keep forward speed with those and I'd rather just safely get to the ground like I was trained."
  4. Millie smiles. "Thank you for the poncho, Becca. If you need help with the data glasses, let me know, I might be able to help. And heading to the hotel first, sounds like a good idea. Today's crazy enough, don't need some idiots with no common sense to decide to mug me. Let's go dump my stuff in my hotel and then get a bite to eat." She thinks for a moment. "Travel's gonna be real easy once I figure out how to teleport myself, ain't it?" She chuckles as they walked, trying to make convo.
  5. "Meh, I've come into some money, that and the older models don't get phased out for a year or two for updates so I'm ok." They get to the gift shop and they start looking things over. She picks a darn navy blue poncho for Millie before getting a pair of data glasses for herself and some batteries. After getting a couple soft drinks as well as charging up a couple transit cards the pair head off to the underground station to catch a ride to Trafalgar Square. Rebecca rummages for her old military poncho in her carry-on. "Well, we'll be heading to the more common sight first, that is Trafalgar Square. I know of some places on my way to my temporary residence. Want to head to your hotel first to get your arrangements in order and your junk stowed? I doubt you'd want to spend time lugging your kit about London like I'm going to..." She finally gets her poncho on. "That and after your situation is squared away then we can get some actual food. I know of a place..."
  6. Amanda stared at her mother then stood a bit awkwardly, nobody fucking bothered to mention that she was psychic too, fucking assholes. "Really? How was the trip?" She bites down the sarcasm for once."We made it, Im alright. Cher's still napping, we uhh picked a couple of rooms. I hope that was ok?" "Of course it was sweetheart, that's why I got the apartment." Neither rushed to embrace the other. "Yes this is kind of awkward I suppose, I'm just so happy your ok baby and that your here now." "Yeah, well dads a fucking asshole, and nobody bothered to tell me you were a psychic including your boyfrind, Dr. Gwyn." Ok so the sarcasm couldn't be held for long,Amanda takes the defensive posture of a hurt and angry teen crossing her arms and staring at he mother. <Did you think I wouldn't notice?> Her mind speak flashes to her mother.
  7. Whilst waiting for her mother Amanda had casually flopped on a sofa while logging her devices into the apartments wifi, and then realised that the paramedic, Gwyn had sat in the same spot several times in the last week. Not a thought she was happy with. Almost an hour later than predicted Amanda's mother finally returned home, her entrance heralded, to Amanda at least, by the approach of another 'light/spark/glow' denoting another psychic to Amanda's new senses. Suzanne called out as she opened the door to the entrance hall, "Amanda, I'm home." Ditching her shoes and bag in the hall, she went straight into the reception room Amanda was sitting in. "I'm sorry I couldn't get away to met you in person, but you can imagine the chaos we're facing with all this pod stuff happening. It wasn't helped by the Ambassador not surviving his pod. So, apart from the obvious, how was the trip?"
  8. I should probably bow out as well. Besides the fact that my job is becoming increasingly irritating to the point of wiping out my ability to be creative, I can't think of any reason this character has to associate with most of the cast.
  9. As I'm leaving the site for a while, I will be leaving PU. Some things were resolved...
  10. I'm stepping out of this game for a while. Might be for a week, longer if necessary.
  11. Her mother was late. As annoyed as that made her it wasn't as bad as it would have been just yesterday, instead with Cher napping Amanda had a chance now to play with her new powers. She regretted giving away even an Inkling of what she might be capable of to the paramedic Gwyn. She had to be careful, but she also had to learn. She had been watching the man in his twenties at the corner talking on his phone. Suddenly he tossed the phone aside and stepped into the street and kept walking despite the honking and braking of several cars. Once he made the other side he stopped na started looking around in shock. Smiling and breathing hard Amanda turned and went back into the apartment building and returned to her moms place to wait.
  12. "Nice to meet you sir." Millie smiled before looking at Becca. "Your brother seems like a nice guy." She ponders once they reach the shop. "Dark Blue's my kind of color. But you don't have to buy it if you don't want to." She said politely. She shrugged. "And I'm not sure on the glasses thing. Don't quote me on this, but I think a new set's coming out in a few months"
  13. Sifting through these impressions Desmond tried quantifying them by function. "This first one...this is sensing the other talents, so it must be related to some underlying wave pattern all talents share. This second one is clearly based upon electromagnetic variations, so what is this third sense?" He picked up a remote and held it loosely for a second, then left it floating in the air as he took his hand away. He'd shut out all his other sensory feeds in the process so he could focus on what was going on right in front of him. He'd assumed he was going to feel some kind of EM force wave as he'd assumed what he was doing was some form of diamagnetism, but that did not appear to be the case. Despite how much he concentrated on keeping the two effects up, he in no way sensed any electromagnetism at work while levitating the remote. The incongruity of the third sense continued to puzzle him until he shut his eyes and sat down with it still engaged. He'd let the remote fall but he still had a clear sense of where it was. That gave him another idea; he kept his eyes closed and walked to his bathroom to retrieve a toothbrush from his toiletries, finding that he could do so without actually slamming into a wall or tripping over anything. After the fourth time he spun in a circle to make himself dizzy and still managed to walk across the hotel room unerringly to find some random object, he realized that this was some kind of hyper-advanced positioning sense. What it was based off of eluded him but he resolved to figure it out once he had access to some testing equipment. After he'd exhausted himself again he sat there perplexed and waiting for the time lines to line up to where he could call back to the labs in the US.
  14. Sorry I've been out of touch for a bit. I'll be sticking my head back in to the site over the next couple of days.
  15. James nods politely at the two ladies plans. "You mean you don't already have me on speed dial? No matter. Yes, I can get a lawyer for you if you need one, but I don't see any reason why you should at the moment. And yes, I am aware of why you ladies had to undergo a period of medical observation, so I expect you to spill all the next time we meet Beccy. As for the test pilot role, you're welcome to it. I don't think we will have anything we need testing for a while but you can certainly have the post and keep your hand in until then." He turns to Millie as you get to the front doors and he lifts two small bags off the stack. "A pleasure meeting you Miss, and try not to take anything Beccy tells you too seriously." With that and a nod to Beccy he walks out to a waiting chauffeur driven car.
  16. Playing with his new senses didn't seem to tire him at all and he found that at the moment at least he had three distinct new senses, all of which seemed to vary in the detail they provided each time he activated them. This variability was unfortunate but seemed to be inevitable, perhaps tapping into psychic phenomena was inherently unstable in some way? The first sense was the one he had first noticed while still inside the cocoon, the sort of radar like ability to sense the presence of other psychics and to a lesser extent the use of psychic abilities. Unfortunately the sense didn't come with any sense of scale, just near or further away. However, by calling up Google maps on his laptop and comparing various scales around his location with the mass of presences he felt he was confident that he could cover a pretty large area of the centre of Greater London. His range obviously did not get close to the edge or as far as the M25 as the thousands of presences he felt did not seem to dwindle away as you'd expect at the less populated edges of London. A second sense seemed to be only line of sight, and fairly close ranged at that. This sense was an awareness of the major electrical and EM wave sources in the area. So Desmond could see a light trace on or just above the wallpaper where the power lines run around the walls and a slight pulsing dim glow from across the road where a cell repeater was on the roof of a nearby building. His last new sense is another 'radar' type one since it was a full spherical sense and more easily measured. It was always the same size but the details he could 'feel' with it varied. Out to approximately (he didn't have a tape measure with him) 6m he could feel the presence of all material objects, in a full sphere. So he could feel the tv remote on the bed next to him, the bath in the ensuite and people walking along the corridor both outside his room and in the corridors in the floor above and below him. By moving closer to the walls he could also feel which of the rooms around him were currently occupied.
  17. Griffin dropped Sakura off at her hotel and made sure that someone helped her with her bags before saying good bye and returning to the car, Amanda and Cheryl. Inside the staff at the reception desk where very helpful and reassuring that the room was still booked, and smoothly handled the outstanding paperwork and whisk her up to her room.
  18. Unfortunately, the time spent in his cocoon took "sleep' off the the list of options, leaving him at the mercy of the timezone shift. Eventually he opted to merely settle for perusing the local London news broadcasts. He'd had a passing thought of making a few experimental tests her in his hotel room, but thought better of it as any results he'd gather would be questionable at best lacking proper equipment. By now he'd forced himself into a 'non-receptive' state of mind where he could focus more on the actual happenings around him rather than be distracted by the higher senses he'd been endowed with. While sitting there letting the news play he allowed his senses to reach outward again and see how much of an area they encompassed.
  19. Once alone the two girl sort of just stand there staring at each other, then they both start talking at once. "Oh my god Cher you have never looked so good and no glasses, your gorgeous!" "You have fucking mind power oh my gawd how fucking cool is that! They both stopped at the same time and started laughing then they hugged. Amanda stepped back and looked at her friend. "I wish youhad gotten some powers too hun," Cher smiles at her best friend. "It doesn't matter Manda, look i lost thirty pounds and I don't need glasses any more. I don't think i could handle the stress of having powers too, I'm happy." Felling a bit doubtful and unusually caring, Amanda looks Cher in the eye while delving into her friends emotive state. Emtapthy roll Nina] 9:04 am: i need to make aPU roll Nina *rolls* 7d10t7: 8,6,6,10,2,2,7. Successes = 3. [Asarasa] 9:04 am: Nice [Nina] 9:04 am: thanks "Are you sure?" Cheryl's nod and her own detection of her friends emotions reassure Amanda. " Well then lets see if any of theses Posh rooms are empty." She says with a horrible fake British accent. Giggling, the two set about making themselves at home.
  20. Griffin grins at Amanda's question, "Minder! Me? No, your mum's not such a control freak as your Dad, although she's been pretty disappointed in your behaviour. No, I'm just a junior cultural attache at the Embassy doing your mum a favour. Speaking of which I better get back to the office now I've finally got you here. There should be some spare keys on the kitchen counter along with the home number, your mum's office number and the wifi details." Then with a wave and a final "Welcome to London ", he leaves the two girls in the apartment.
  21. The two girls and their driver/watchdog enter the apartment Amanda is surprised at how nice it is. "Thanks for everything, you really came through with that bank stuff. So are you my minder?" She tries to convey sincerity with her thanks and added levity with the minder question at the same time she shoots thought to Cher. <Cher, be careful what you say around him or while we are here. I don't trust him and don't know what he is capable of. I know this is a lot to get used too but lets keep as much of this between us as we can. I'm so glad your here with me. No matter what you will always be my best best friend.> Amanda under the cover of looking around the living room keeps a sharp eye on Griffin while she mind speaks to Cher to see if he reacts. And as she finishes her telepathic com she sends a reenforcing burst of love at her best friend. Cher already gloaming onto the telepathy thing smiles as she gets her Friends thoughts in a more intimate fashion than she ever imagine before. "This place is pretty cool Manda, I think it will good for us.. Wow look at this view!" actions using mind speak and exacerbate to enhance chers love of amanda i need to make mind speak roll to mind speak cher and an exacerbate roll on cher as well Nina *rolls* 7d10t7: 2,2,8,6,1,10,6. Successes = 2. Nina *rolls* 7d10t7: 4,1,10,8,10,7,4. Successes = 4. [Rorx] 10:40 am: Are we? Terry isn't and I don't think Noir's mage is [Nina] 10:41 am: well that was the original pitch, monsters recruited and givin a second chance sort of thing. Longs character is a pretty freaking vicious werewolf and im a blood drinking sociopath lol [Rorx] 10:42 am: Whats your Mindshare dots at mo? [Nina] 10:42 am: first was mind speak second was exacerbate and cher is in the apartment with me. [Nina] 10:42 am: 2 dots in both i think [Rorx] 10:42 am: Ok
  22. Griffin nods in recognition as Sakura tells him of her hotel reservation, then asks her to repeat the name etc once he has a notebook out so that he can programme the SatNav in the car once they get there. "You shouldn't have any problems with your reservation. This thing has effected everyone so everyone is basically just rescheduling things for a day later as though the day we spent in the pods never happened. Obviously that's not going to work for everything, but for the short-term that seems to be what everyone has adopted. Right, if you're all finished with breakfast lets make a move. " He stands and pays the bill before guiding you out to the car, pushing the trolley of all your bags for you. Half an hour later you manage to pull up in front of Sakura's hotel. Griffin helps her in with her bags after Amanda and Cheryl take their leave of her and all promise to get in touch later. Getting back into the car Griffin pauses before starting it again and looks at Amanda in the rear view mirror, "I suspect you'll run into some restrictions or red tape in trying to clear your account out, especially if your dad is involved with it. You'll need to open your own accounts over here, for which you'll need some proof of address, your passport and drivers license will do as your proof of id. So I think we better swing by the Embassy first then I can make up some kind of proof of address on official paper for you. Then go open an account or two before we go and take a run at your current account." An hour or so later they have negotiated the London traffic a couple of times in order to visit the US Embassy and a couple of UK banks to set up accounts for both Amanda and Cheryl in the UK and arrive at the UK branch of her current bank account. Inside the teller is apologetic, and gets the bank manager to explain that due to the limits on the joint account with her father she can only transfer £10,000 pounds to another account without a countersignature from her father. Amanda agreed, while trying to keep a lid on her temper, and transfers £10,000 to each of her two UK accounts, Cheryl's two UK accounts and Cheryl's US account. Then after getting another couple of hundred pounds in cash from the ATM they leave the branch. Outside Amanda gives vent to some of her anger/upset at the turn of events, but Griffin chips in that he suspected something like this might happen and suggests another ploy. He recently saw in a newspaper article that a particular Porsche model was top of the list at retaining its value when you sold it second hand and reckons that with Amanda's charm she should be able to pick up a new model and sell it in a couple of days or a week for practically the same price. Hence shifting money from her credit card to one of her new accounts. An hour or so later Amanda is the dubious owner of a new Porsche which is due to be delivered the next day to a parking garage near her mothers apartment that Griffin has arranged to be rented in her name. Having concluded their various bits of business they finally make their way to her mothers apartment which is about a mile or so from the US embassy in London. Griffin has had a message saying that she hopes to meet you all there about 2pm, in another hour from their arrival there.
  23. Rebecca smiled, seeing her personal belongings. "Actually, James, Millie and I will be taking in the sights in London. I wager things might not be as busy today in town considering the crisis we just survived." She smiles. "We'll be touring around, getting Millie's hotel sorted, then maybe stopping by my place to enjoy some dinner before breaking for the evening." She smiled. "To be honest... I could use someone to talk to and you're gonna be busy in Cardiff with family matters. As for the lawyers, I'll keep you on speed dial to get one in to my rescue. Just not sure now our changes will be looked at legally. You are aware of people developing Psychic talents, right?" She lets that sink in for a moment, looking at her brother with a look that means: You're looking at two of 'em. She sighed. "We can talk about that once we're settled in. I need a few days back on solid ground to start sortin' my life out. Although... is Mum's old position as a test pilot still open after her death? Although at her age I think she was getting close to retirement anyways, but I'm... willing to take her place. I just want to take a few days to sort myself and think of where to go first." She flexed her back. "At least my back feels like it did before I entered the service." She said. She looked actually a little taller now, now that her discs in her back weren't so compressed and her vertebrae weren't damaged anymore. "I got a feelin' if the Royal Navy realizes that pilots like Me are 100% better, they might start writing off our three strikes. Although I think with the political shitstorm around me over that last plane that went down with me as the pilot of record is... a problem." She shook her head, nearing the gift shop. "It's raining outside a bit. I think I'll grab a rain poncho for myself and Millie if she needs one... and get one of those neat little glasses... I'm sure the model those fancy guards had isn't sold here, but I need a new pair of computer glasses after the last pair I had got smashed on a Tarmac a few months ago." "Millie, what's your favorite color? The waterproofs are my treat. I think they sell snacks and caffeinated beverages too here. We're gonna be taking the Underground to get to our first stop, so we might wanna make sure you got a pass for it."
  24. Millie is saved from further embarrassment as they enter the Baggage Claim area and a man immediately spots them walk in the door and calls to Rebecca. "Beccy, over here. I've got your bags already for you." The Baggage Claim hall is strangely quiet with just the carousel for your plane active out of the six in the hall. Some of the passengers have obviously been and moved on and there is an intermittent line of them showing the way to customs and the arrivals gate if you couldn't be bothered to follow the signs. As they reach the man he holds out his hand to Millie, "Hi I'm James, Beccy's brother. I gather you were under this medical observation thing together." He looks over to Rebecca, "I got your texts, although I'm not sure what to do with some of them. I've left a message for the Director of Research with what you said about the meteorites, but I doubt we'll be able to get anything now so I've asked him to see what he can do about the cocoons and whatever material they are made of. As for lawyers we have a legal department if you need them for anything?" He pauses and glances between the two of you, "And what's the story with this paramedic? From what I could look up on my phone there is an ex-Army paramedic of that name who works for a local NHS trust. Did he do anything dodgy, do you want to make a complaint or something? Or did you just want to know more about him?" Rebecca looked over to Millie briefly before replying, "I just thought it was an odd set up having a paramedic with an Army link watching us. Could you find anything out about his Army career?" "No, but then I was just looking online with Google. It could just be coincidence, after all a lot of ex-service people go into the emergency services when they leave the force. Same as a lot of them go into security or get bonuses to go into teaching. I'll see if I can find someone to look into it for you, but it might take a while." He gets his phone out and quickly types something briefly. "Ok, lets see to your bags then miss and we can head out." So saying he leads the way back to the carousel, pushing the trolley with Rebecca's and his own bags.
  25. "I'm mostly a bit of a book work and I play MMO's Like City of Heroes 2. My dad was a Huge fan of the original so when we both got accounts when COH2 came out. my main is a Scrapper called Ikazuchihime. She's got Electric and martial arts powers. She can go WHAM AND BAM! AND BZZZZT!" She calms down "S-sorry got carried away there."
