Trinity Universe: Remember When We Played Trinity?

Things have been pretty slow here recently, even though most of our regulars are still here. Obviously, there aren't many games going - it looks like we're short on people that are willing to put in the time to ST, not that that's any fault of theirs. So, here's a suggestion: what if we started a campaign with the ST position on permanent rotation? If the game were about Trinity ops team, it wouldn't be unreasonable to have entirely different assignments every week. Character sheets could be posted here and edited according to peer review.

Any interest? ::cool

Hmm, interesting. I actually have been giving thought to relaunching my Trinity game some time in the near future, but perhaps this is a saner plan. Anyon else?

Here's an idea, since my A! story is dead in the water with prof gone...:

The Setting: Starting point Lisbon. City of Sin, where anything can be bought or sold for the right price. It probably won't be a globetrotting story (in the beginning, at least), and most of the action will take place in Western Europe.

The Characters: Sailors, dock workers, street girls (or boys), mercs, war veterans, thieves, investigators, swindlers, ex-cons, black-ops people and other characters with negotiable morals. No psions. All down on their luck and looking for a job. Not the best at what they do.

The Story: Industrial espionage and counter-espionage, cutting edge tech worth dying for - or killing a whole lot of other poor bastards for...

The Opposition: Law enforcement, the Trinity, competing market interests of varying morals.

The Mood: Gritty, dirty, dog-eat-dog, there's-always-a-bigger-fish sci-fi.

The Rules: PG rules for neutrals. No Status or Influence. Resources, Mentor and Device max 3. No Allies or Contacts 'of immense power'. Merits & Flaws: Maybe. Some flaws are cool and may be allowed. Flaws like Short, Speech Impediment, Deaf, Blind, Colorblind and whatnot are plain stupid and are there just for the points. They will not be allowed, obviously. Same goes for Merits. I'm not going to give a point min/max on this, but rather make case-by-case decisions.

And before you ask: No, Holo Lives characters will not be allowed, except maybe as Special Guest Villains... ::cool ::wink

What do you think?

Phoenix, you're unimaginative. ::tongue Besides, I've got plenty of witnesses that you've played at least one neutral Trinity character. ::wink

but to repeat my mantra, I'm leaving in six weeks for 3 months and I don't want to hold up the game.

I knew you'd say that. ::cool

::laugh Can I play a Superior in this game? I'll just make one who's down on his luck and looking for a job. A Mediocre, if you will. ::raspberry

Okay, okay, I'll think about it. ::innocent I assume this is you're own game you're proposing to run, not a rotating ST game, right? Because I have no idea where you're going with this...

It could be rotating, after a while at least. If things go according to plan, I hope to end up with a group that can have a 'Mission of the Week' style game, but not from the Aeon Trinity angle.

But yes. It's an idea that's been brewing in the back of my head for a while. But it seems forum activity in general is down these days, so maybe it's the wrong time for it. No point in starting it with less than five players, at least.

Actually... you don't want to play a superior in this game. It might be fun in the beginning, but not after a while. Trust me. ::wink

Since I'm more in a sci-fi than pulp mood these days, I'm gonna push this one more time on the off chance that there's any interest.

And if it means anything, Zeke: Three months isn't that long from an online game perspective, and it will be possible to include new characters as we go along.

OK, looks like this might work out after all. A few words on characters:

Although they could come from more or less all walks of life, what I've said earlier still stands. These are not the heavy hitters, Aeon super-agents or what have you. They are normal people who've ended up - or spent their entire lives - in the lower levels of society, where 'crime' is a question of definition. And timing.

Morals:

The characters have to be willing to break the law, and have probably done so on several occasions. Alternatively, they're in a tight spot, and a life of crime seems like the best way out. I'm not saying I want a team of psychos or stone cold killers, just people who won't get shocked if the boss asks them to rob a bank.

Skills:

The characters have to have some relevant skills, be they as a hitman/soldier, intrusion specialist, hacker, con man, undercover agent or the like. They don't necessarily have to have experience in using them for criminal purposes. If you make a character with expert-high scores in his focus skills, make sure you also make up the reason why he hasn't got a job already. None of the characters should be completely useless in a combat situation. ::wink

The Job:

For whatever reason you come up with, the character needs the money, security and backing an employer can provide, and is willing to pay the price for it. They're all joining up with an outfit for a future, not for a specific job.

Need inspiration? Read William Gibson.
