Trinity Universe: Trinity game anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just found this site - it looks great - and I noticed the message board.

Saw a few people below asking for a game of Trinity but they looked a bit old. If the board isn't dead then I'm up for running a game for up to 4 players (first in first served).

A little about myself - I've been RPG'ing for over 10 years (almost 15 now I guess) and I've spent most of that time running games. I actually prefer to play, but Gm'ing is great fun.

I like a good fast game, usually with a mystery at it's heart, and have played most Genre's. I like Trinity, but some of the later details got a bit crazy as they tied it back into aberrant and adventure, so I'll probably set it earlier (before Hunag-mar for those keeping track) and then tweak the future to keep it interesting.

Any character suggestions kick them over while I think up a good adventure. Seeting would be either jump ship crew heading out to a colony, or an earth based game looking into one of the continents (maybe europe) but it depends on the characters and what people are keen to do.

Anyway - I'll keep an eye on the forum for a while so let me know,

Mr Grimm

Welcome aboard, Mr. Grimm. Good to see you jumping right into the fray. ::tongue

There's been some interest in the past in a Trinity game. Good luck on getting this going. It'll be nice to see another active forum game.

Hey, I'm trying to ressurect my old game... it's a little decayed now from a server crash.

It'll be a while before I can regularly update it, I don't have the original plan for the story so I have to re-figure out all the plot I had planned.

I plan to have regular internet access soon so it will be easier then.

If you can think of a way to incorporate your character into the current story I'd be happy to let you in (if you can tolerate my inconsistent updates)

I'd love to play a game of trinity! One problem though. I've never played. I have owned a few of the books for several years but could not ever find anyone to play with. I've role-played on and off for several years (mostly D&D and Star Wars), but never a white wolf game. My character concept is an ISRA'n scout-type working with the Legions, but I'm flexible on that to help fit into a stroy line better. If you can put up with my learning, I'd love to join a game. ::smiley5

Hi All,

Thanks for the warm welcome Joseph, great to be here ::hehe

Dr Arbitrary - If your running a game - I'll play a Orgotek Biotech/SI specialist (science oriented - tell me if that is ok or if you prefer a combat oriented character)

Kimi - thanks for the reply - always happy to welcome new players aboard. I have not had the pleasure of running a game on message boards before, but I think I can get the hang of it. An ISRA'n scout sounds great? Do you have access to the main book, and possibly the players or the ISRA'ns book? If you do then make up the character with standard rules from the main book (add merits/flaws from the players guide if you have it) and forward me the details (post here or e-mail) If not tell me what abilities you think the character should have - a background story and such - and I'll work out some stats.

Everyone else - quit slacking and lets see some character ideas. The adventure will probably be pre "huang-marr" for those keeping score.

Hi Ayre,

I'd like to use them, they seem more "open" than the other rules. My only concern is if players do not have access to the rules it would be a little more difficult on them determining what their player is capable of.

If the players are happy to tell me what they want to do and trust me to assign appropriate difficulties then I'll go for it, as they look like a lot more fun than standard descriptions.

Did you have a character in mind ::biggrin

You wanna say a bit more about what you have in mind, Mr Grimm? I might want to play, but I'd like a few more pointers on what kind of character would be appropriate...

Deep space or earth? Local community in Europe, or international superheroes?

Engineer sounds good - think about wether he does hardtech or biotech now. Military ties is good, legion or a country is ok. Have think and let me know.

Wrong kind of engineering, with millitary engineering think construction and demolition, this can also include plumbing and electrical as well but not programing unless that's what a civil engineer does in the 22nd century.

That may very well be the case, Ayre. Remeber, that in 2120 almost every building has a central computer handling everything from cooking food to controlling the room temperature (check the Tech manual for details).

So while a civil engineer would not have programming as a primary skill, he would certainly be familiar with the workings of computer systems, so he is able to integrate a computer system in the things he is building, IMHO.

Hi All,

Thanks for the great level of interest shown in me running a game - I wanted to see what sort of feedback I got before releasing too many details but what I;ve sen so far seems great.

Here is the adventure outline I had in mind - I'll work with each of you that wants to play to firm up a character idea and we can go from there.

Adventure setting:

The characters are all employed or on loan to Aeon (details will vary based on character) but they have all been assigned together to work under a leader. It is late 2121 and the characters will be transported or based in the crumbling FSA states. The characters are awaiting their first meeting with their new superior, and all they know is that they will be working on some sort of information gathering to present to Aeon at al ater date. The topic is unknown, but speculations are rampant, from FSA research into Taint, Alex Cassells dirty secrets, and even alien hiding places.

Characters:

Information gathering and stealth are obvious skill majors, but any character with high levels of tact should fit in fine. I am happy to work on all character ideas, and probably wont rule out anything designed within the framwork of the published rules.

Suggested reading:

Beyond a familiarity with the main books rules, the player should only be additionaly familiar with ay source data relating to their character (i,e, if from trinity the they should know a bit of how the order works)

Extra info:

I'm aiming for a start in approximately 2-3 weeks, once I have enough players who can commit to a definite time - most of us have to work (I guess) so I'll try and organise it for a weekend (taking into account multiple timezones) - my gaming session should run for 2-4 hours approx, and we'll see how it goes from there.

Okay - thats all for now folks - send me your character ideas and we'll work something out.

Ian

p.s. pretty late so I'll respond to the other messages from Jace, Asbjorn, and Ayre tomorrow (thanks for replying though guys)

Play-by-post's best for me as well. I haven't done any other kind, but Q0's been working really well. The totality of my roleplaying experience, by the way, is Quantum Zero and Unexplored Frontiers, so Kimi's not alone in that boat.

The topic is unknown, but speculations are rampant, from FSA research into Taint, Alex Cassells dirty secrets, and even alien hiding places.

So naturally it'll be none of the above, huh Grimm? ::tongue

Hi All,

Game would be on the board I think - that seems to be the preferred method around here and it certainly suits me - I've got home and work access to net, so it should be ok to post everything here.

Not sure how the time thing will work - perhpas I'll try and get a time when most people can be around and waiting for posts for a couple of hours - I am preparing a lot of NPC dialogue and location descriptions before hand so I can cut and pace to hopefully keep some sembelance of game flow happening.

For dice rolls and such, I thought that I would either make up a "freeform" method of resolution - (i.e. we "paper, scissor, rock" for each dice you roll) or I roll them all and tell you what happens - as I'll have all your characters details this suits me, but you'll have to trust I wont tell you you botched horribly and died, when rolling to open a stuck door ::halo

Otherwise I am happy to do it over MSN messenger, in a chat session, if everyone has access to MSN messenger

Anyway - I'll reply to character queries in the next post

I have no access to MSN messenger (though I could probably get it if I had to). It's probably best to just do it on the forum.

As for move resolutions, it's probably best if you just do it. We trust you. Though I hope you won't hold it against me should I choose to avoid doors when we start.

LOL - 'natch - but hey - the setting should be one of espionage and never quite knowing whats around the corner. All the characters know is they are in the FSA for something important, but hush-hush.

Oh - BTW - the theme of the game will be based around the Aeon society's principles - "Hope, Unity, Sacrifice"

Okay - geting back to character requests now

Hi All,

Character responses -

Ayre - Military engineering is great - this would fit in well - any allegiance apart from FSA should be fine, with one of the psi-orders, or aeon, or a texmex rebel/mercenary.

Jace - You mentioned a jornalist - that would be okay - if he has a focus towards photogrpahy and film all the better - again as long as he is freelance or perhpas U.N. or Aeon sponsored there should be no problems.

Kimi - ISRAN' who works for the legion is great - you would probably be on loan to the Aeon society due to your scouting/info gathering skills.

Abjorn - you mentioned you were interested - if you want more detail let me know.

Phoenix has e-mailed me seperately and already worked out some background details - he will be playing a neutral Aeon agent/spy.

Okay - thanks for your time again guys - great stuff - send me more character details (private mail ok if you want to work out juicy background stuff)

Also - I'll probably allow one more player max after Asbjorn - 6 shoudl make for a pretty rounded group and ot be too hard to get all people to play and respond reasonably quickly

Hi All,

Ayre - a-ok on character concept - naive is fine - let me know.

I'll keep the game on the forum - I might see if I can have another open forum like the e-book developers one so I can password the game once it begins so we don;t get stray comments from others, and then open it again once we have finished - I'll look into this now and see what is available.

Phoenix - doors are your friend, trust them ::halo

Hey Ayre, I was wondering what happened to that guy ::cool

Ian, if you want to see some other forum games to get into the swing of it, you could check out Quantum Zero or what's left of Unexplored Frontiers after the old forum went down and took like eight pages with it.

By the way, Ayre's right; I've never seen anyone post a stray comment on an in-game thread. This is a very courteous place for an online community where nobody knows you're a cat.

Oh yeah, I can see it now. ::sly ::wink

ME: I open the door and stroll through.

ST: You mistakenly apply a bit too much force to the door and it SMASHES into a million pieces! You fall onto the shards and one of them goes through your HEART! No, TWO of them! Bwa ha ha! ::devil

I am not a cat...despite some of the rumours.

Seriously though - I'll take both your words for it - once we get all the characters workd out I'll start a new thread from there.

Ayre - legion character could be interesting - perhaps a rookie from the USA contingent (the 3rd? - cannot remember) might be more appropriate than a 1st legion character

He's a First wannabe, just a rookie in training, personally I'd have him sent to the FSA to visit Orgotek HQ to get a better grip on his electrokinesis and he got orders to work with err whoever we're supposed to. Looking over the cost to start with EK I think it's worth it for a character quirk.

No no Pheonix, I'm much more subtle than that.

The door waits for you to close it, then sneaks off, kills the characters family, ransoms his dog, and then jumps onto him from a 20 story building, splintering into shard, THREE of which pierce his heart.

I promise there will be no death by door.

I'll use elephants instead ::biggrin

Hmmm - would he be an Australian native, or an American?
