Tara McGillicuddy is the oldest daughter of two native Sydney folks. Her father works as a business accountant, while her mother is a worker at a day care center near her house. Her decision to join the Australian Navy has mystified her family somewhat, but they are supportive. She, like the rest of her family, shares blazingly red hair, emerald green eyes, and skin full of freckles that burns easily. Now attached to the Atlantis expedition, her time is split between setting up the law office (and trying to learn the names and faces of the clerks assigned to her) and being an 'on switch' for random Ancient technology discovered by the scientists.

The following three people are the members of the legal department for the Atlantis expedition. All three are also required to stand military patrols in the city, though they are normally exempt from doing off-world missions.

Master Sergeant Roderick Simons, US Army - a career servicemember of 19 years, Simons was chosen out of SGC staff to be part of the expedition. His experience has primarily been in paperwork, though he hasn't specifically worked in a legal office, he was placed under LCDR McGillicuddy to help her get used to the top secret requirements of working for SGC and the IOA. He has some combat experience with his unit in Iraq during the 1991 defense of Kuwait

Petty Officer Second Class Arthur Graite, US Navy - a career servicemember of 9 years, Graite is a legalman with a top secret clearance. His last posting was at Area 51, handling the usual legal requirements for the military and civilian staff working on Goa'uld and Ancient technology.

Airman Samantha Grant, British Royal Air Force - A junior member, placed into the SGA expedition because she possesses a weaker version of the Ancient gene.

The compartments used by the legal staff is seven flights of stairs down from the gate room. The hallway is essentially a circle. In the center are the law office, which includes: a main room with a desk for each of the three enlisted, several laptops, and a scanner/copier/printer for them to perform their standard jobs; a small private office for LCDR McGillicuddy; a secure records rooms, currently holding copies of everyone's wills; and an entrance to Tara's private quarters. On the south side, across the hall from the entrance to the main office, is a bunk room for the two men, while Airman Grant shares a different room on the east side with another female soldier.
