Ideas For Games

I can't claim that the idea is originally mine as Steve Kenson (writer of M&M) mentioned it during an interview, but it was too good not to share.

Legacy of the Bat

System: DC Adventures

Gotham City is in chaos. The Batman and Robin are dead. All of their allies are gone. Crippled, killed, or simply demoralized into retirement. Crime is on the rise and without the Batman figures like Two-Face, Riddler, Hush, and the Scarecrow have their run of the town. Somebody needs to step into the void and take back the night. Somebody like you!

Obviously this is pretty vague but the idea is perhaps a little like Batman Beyond except in the current era. Many of Batman's rogue's gallery are still kicking around as are new villains and crime bosses.

Saint's Row

System:Shadowrun

The sprawl is hell and the gangs rule. Or do they? You, the PCs, are in one of those gangs (either made up or using a canon gang) and it's time to take the city over.

To do that you'll need to take out the competition, pay the right people, and make sure that anyone who steps up gets fucked up. Drugs, gambling, prostitution, protection... do you guys have what it takes to take your gang to the top and rule Seattle?

The Devil's Rejects

,,

Setting: Earth, Europe and Western Hemisphere, or as appropriate. Time period as appropriate.

,,

Premise: The character's are free agents caught in the middle of the celestial cold war. Angels who have fallen from grace but are not welcomed by Lucifer. Demons who have been cast out from hell (and obviously aren't welcome upstairs). Half breed children of mortal and divine/infernal parents. The characters are caught in the middle with nowhere to go. Motivations may vary; a fallen angel may wish to seek heaven through redemption, or to embrace damnation and earn a place in hell at Lucifer's side. Maybe you just want to carve out a mortal kingdom and spit in the eyes of both God and Devil. Or perhaps you need to live down your sire, or live up to the ideals they embraced. What will you do to get into Heaven, or prove your worth to Satan?

,,

Metaphysics: Yes. As players of fallen angels, demons, and possibly mortal scions of one or the other, character will have the powers of heaven or hell (though watered down) at their disposal. Hedge and ritual magic are also potentially possible.

I came across this picture in a Star Wars google plus community and immediately went a bit batshit coming up with an Alternate Universe interpretation.

Jedi Master Palpatine
Former Chancellor of the Republic who was defeated and forced into exile by the Jedi. Rescued Jedi Knight Skywalker from a burning death on the plains of Mustafar and has been combining his abilities as a former Jedi and the skills and connections he formed as a politician to try to bring the disparate Independent Systems together into an Alliance to Restore the Republic

Anakin Skywalker
Swashbuckling knight of the Jedi Bendu of Ashla. Known as the Son of Suns. Left for dead on the surface of Mustafar, he must always wear his breathing apparatus. Travels the outer rim bringing his message of strength and hope and pushing back the oppression of the Empire wherever it is found.

Grand Admiral Tarkin
Lifelong carreer man of the Republic Naval forces. Refused to capitulate his fleets to the Jedi coup and was instrumental in spiriting master Palpatine away from Had Abbadon at the conclusion of the Clone Wars. Provides leadership to the Alliance’s growing military capabilities.

Boba Fett & Bossk
Freedom fighters from the outer rim. Fett carries the honor of the Mandalorians who shielded the Republic from the mythical Bogan Sith invasion millenia ago. Bossk is a hunter who tracks those that prey on the weak and bring them to justice.

Emperor Obi-wan
Second-in-command the coup of Jedi that overthrew the Republic and installed the Galactic Empire. Ambushed and murdered Lord Yoda afterward and took his place as Emperor. Lured the separatists to Mustafar and killed them, defeating and maiming Skywalker when the latter came to defend the enemy leaders from wholesale slaughter. Stole away a dying Padme’s children and oversaw the indoctrination of young Skywalker to the Dark Side

Luke Skywalker
Has been training for years in the use of the lightsaber and the force. Views himself as an enforcer of Order for the Empire. Embraces the Dark Side with religious devotion and zeal. Views his sister as a useless nitwit who ignores her birthright.

Countess Leia
Turned her abilities with the Dark Side to statecraft. Rules over the Alderranian sector and oversees the Empire’s continued dominance. Has nothing but scorn for the religious views of her brother.

Han Solo and Chewbacca
Bounty-hunting duo that specializes in getting targets out of controlled systems. Smuggling them out if the contract calls for alive, or just turning them over to Chewie for arm-removal otherwise. Used frequently by Countess Leia who despises them both but finds Solo’s charm to be irritatingly enjoyable.

Grand Moff Ackbar
Military dictator of the Mon Calimari system who drives the Quarren inhabitants of the oceans like slaves to toil in the shipyards to keep the Empire’s Navy full to the brim of tremendous MC battlecruisers.

It is a period of civil war.
Rebel spaceships, striking
from a hidden base, have won
their first victory against
the evil GALACTIC EMPIRE.

Under the leadership of ANAKIN
SKYWALKER, several rebel teams
have discovered the plans for a
new superweapon that could spell
the end of the Rebellion

Pursuing the rebels are the
forces of COUNTESS LEIA,
who has tracked the plans
to the outer rim world of
TATOOINE.

In the hold of Freedom-1, the
spaceship of freedom fighter
BOBA FETT, a small team
of rebels flies to the desert
world to retrieve the plans
before the sinister agents
of the Empire...

(those are the PCs by the way)

Well...

Looking around I discover this thread again after a long time, and I discover this idea:

Shadowrun
"Yo Joe!"
You are the best of the best of the best of the best of the best! When all else fails... go get a Mt. Dew (product placement). The PCs are part of a special task force that answers to no one. Each PC is a badass, but also a specialist in one particular field so everyone gets a seat in the spotlight.

It's made even batter if you give them a cheesy terrorist enemy to battle too, like Cobra... or V.E.N.O.M.

The Fun Side: With little accountability and the theatrics nature of the game you can have all kinds of fun. Remember though, you're the good guys. Also, if you like make two PCs and take turns playing the good guys and the bad guys! Thwart your own PCs! Awesome code names are a must.

The Drawbacks: It's a bit cheesy...

Hmm... I'd not like to see this in Shadowrun. M&M or FATE maybe.
