Aberrant: Stargate Universe - Mr. Specialist goes to Washington

"He has bodyguards?" Olivia asked, frowning. "I don't recall that in the briefing. I don't think he's important enough to assume that he would have them. He's not someone that powerful, is he? Honestly, unless he has thirty or so of them, we can probably take them as well. They'll just get interrogated and slapped with NDAs by the brass."

Cam listened to the points being made and had to admit they were right. Proper channels didn't apply here. "Ok, those are some very valid points. This isn't about the legal system this is about giving the President the evidence necessary to reign in the abuses of the IOA. So, here's what we're going to do. We don't need to mess with the mistress at all. We pick him up at his mistress' house. He's got the evidence on him that Kyria says he has, that's the main thing we need. Ari takes on his form and he goes on a little fishing trip for the weekend. That keeps the IOA and anyone else that might be watching from realizing the they've been compromised long enough for the President to review the evidence and make his move. All we have to do is protect Ari, and sit on Marcus over the weekend. Keep in mind that we don't have the Prometheus to back us up so there won't be any 'beam us up Scotty' if Ari is attacked. We'll leave the computer alone. If the President wants to do things all legal like so that Marcus can be prosecuted he can get a warrant and have the Feds retrieve it. That way we satisfy both our directive and leave the door open for prosecution in a regular court."

"Any questions before we move into position?"

Yseult shrugged, she had little to contribute so far to this endeavor - she wasn't even sure why the asked to be involved, if truth be told - but Cameron's recommendation seemed a reasonable compromise to all the other options that came up.

"That it acceptable to me, Cameron. Though I would suggest, if there is no possibility of triggering some manner of failsafe, you may want to 'peek' into his system, Cameron, to see what he has stored there, and how it matches up to what he planned on providing to his mistress. That is, if you can retain the information to a ressonably accurate degree."

"I already have the full contents of his system backed up. We were just going after it for physical evidence, but we'll leave that up to the President to have the Feds go in and confiscate it so that they can do it all legal like. As for whether it matches or not, we'll have to wait and see when we have our hands on the package."

Cam looked to the group. "Ok, Kyria, Olivia, Dr. Yseult, you three are with me in this vehicle. Aradia, Dec, Gwyn, Hawke you four make the pickup. Aradia goes on to the fishing trip with Deck and Gwyn as her 'fishing buddies'. Hawk, you will return with the target and we'll sit on him through the weekend until the President has a chance to look over the info."

The mission went with flawless precision. Someone would have had to be watching very closely to notice the snatch and grab that occurred. Within just a couple hours Aradia, Gwyn and Dec were off the Atlantic coast in Marcus' fishing boat/yacht. Cam had made copies of the packet of evidence they had acquired from Marcus, both hard copy and electronic. He left the others only long enough to drop the information off to the President. After that the group held up in their rented rooms in the hotel. Marcus was a very unhappy camper. Having had the packet of incriminating evidence taken from his very hands he knew he was busted. Cam's team had to put up with a good deal of whining and attempts to 'cut a deal'. When he offered to turn state's evidence Cam just laughed in his face and gagged him.

-----

Saturday passed uneventfully for the two teams, but a phone call from General Landry at the SGC confirmed that things were definitely heating up. Cam had the cellphone on speaker so everyone could hear the General, "Good job on the operation. The President sends his compliments. It was extremely fortunate that he had that evidence on him, you couldn't have gotten more lucky that that." There was a note of skepticism in his voice as he said it as if to imply that it was too convenient, but he didn't voice any objections. "The President has called an emergency session of the IOA board. By Monday morning things should be resolved at least in terms of what will happen with the IOA. No word yet on the people that have been bribing Mr. Higgenbottom. We expect to see something soon though. Keep on your toes, when they learn that their agent was compromised you may see him targeted and have to keep him alive."

____

Saturday evening on board the 'Atlantic Fisher' as Marcus had named his boat. Things became exciting. Aradia, Dec and Gwyn were on the back deck casting lines trying to catch some dinner when the wind became erratic and gusty like under a helicopter, only the sky was clear, until the Al'kesh decloaked it's large energy cannon's pointing at the three people on the boat. A voice announced from the ship, "Stand close together in the center of the deck if you wish to live."

((Ari's team please make init rolls and post them in the Washington combat thread.))

He peered up at the Al'Kesh, one hand clapping over the fishing hat he wore to stop the wind whisking it away. The hat, his shades, and the heavy beard he'd been growing were the only disguise Dec was wearing. He glanced at the other two, his face grim under the Raybans.

"Let's do as they say. We can't do anything on the outside of that thing." He fitted action to word, setting down his rod and moving to the center of the yacht's deck, hands up. Though he wasn't carrying any sort of weapon, Dec wasn't overly concerned. Someone up there would be.

If weapons turned out to be necessary, he could always take one.

Gwyn nods, "You're the guy with the experience so I guess we do it your way, but if it looks they are going to fire that thing then Im going over the side."

As he talks Gwyn follows Dec's actions, putting the fishing rod down and heading for the middle of the yacht.

  • 2 weeks later...

As the three gathered in the middle of the deck a compartment opened on the bottom of the ship spilling out light as a set of rings streaked down and surrounded the trio beaming them aboard the Al'kesh.

Inside the large hold five guards stood ready with with zats aimed at you.

The guards appeared to be human and were in normal clothes. The man in charge seemed to be a black man in his thirties and dressed a bit nicer than the others. He spoke, "Hands in the air." He looked at 'Marcus', "We are very disappointed in you. We invested quite a bit to buy you and now you've compromised yourself. I'm afraid you're going to have a bit of a boating accident, but first we need to ask you a few questions. Answer them quickly and fully and your death will be painless and quick. Otherwise we can drag things out as long and painfully as you like. Now move." He gestured with the zat for the prisoners to proceed him toward a door across the room.

One of the others barked, "Hand clasped behind your heads and proceed slowly."

((Top of round 2. The guards are keeping their distance for now, about 10 feet. One is proceeding ahead of you the other 4 are behind.))

"Ooooh, long and painful?" The voice was Perault's, and yet it wasn't. Harsher, colder, and filled with vicious humour. A voice that Gwyn had heard before, and a quick look sideways from the Welshman confirmed the sparkling knife-edge glitter in his team-mate's eyes. The five men in the room frowned and tightened their grips on their Zats. Red's voice was conversational, his hands remaining behind his head. "My favorite words. But here's a top tip, fellas..." And without finishing he leapt.

Zat fire erupted, filling the small chamber with bolts of light as the Sergeant hurled himself back into the group of men behind the SG team, his hands snapping out faster than the eye could follow, operating independantly. The left hand grabbed and twisted a gunman's arm, directing his Zat fire into the guard on Red's right, the bolt arcing over Red's torso as the enhanced killer continued his backwards plunge. Without missing a beat Red's right hand snapped down, catching the stunned guard's Zat as it dropped from nerveless fingers.

This took roughly one second.

Still holding the left-hand guard's wrist Red twisted, a crunching *pop* heralding the destruction of the man's right shoulder, elbow and wrist. With a scream the man dropped, his autonomic nervous system already sending him blissfully into unconsciousness. Red/Dec's broad shoulders hit the floor and he rolled, his body arching and both feet pistoning up with all the preternatural strength of his body, driving just under the sternum of the rear left-most guard, pulverising the ribs and sending them into the man's heart and lungs with terrible force.

..Two seconds...

Gwyn took advantage of the chaos, stepping forward and disabling the man in front of them. A grip, twist and grab, and the guy was on the floor clutching at his wrist and the Specialist was now armed. Aradia likewise stooped and snatched up a Zat from the floor.

The man in charge was suddenly acutely aware that he was, in fact, no longer the man in charge. His Zat was pointed somewhere between where Red had been and where Red, more importantly was now, which was behind and to one side of him, newly-aquired Zat pressed against the man's head.

...three seconds...

"...if you want someone to have a boating accident, make sure they stay on the fucking boat." Red grinned discomfortingly. He looked at Aradia and Gwyn. "Everyone got all their bits and pieces?" He considered the dead, stunned and injured on the floor. "These meatsacks don't count." he added with callous offhandedness.

Aradia blinked in surprise for a moment, though she kept the Zat aimed at the guy Red was holding onto.

"Yeah.. yeah - bits intact."

Her gaze flickered from Gwyn to Red, then back to the man Red was holding, then back to Gwyn again.

"What should we do with him?"

She wasn't sure whether she should break her disguise, or how to handle the situation. She was just there as a face, after all. A very realistic face.

Gwyn put a Zat shot into each of those not already shot on the ground before replying to Ari, "Lets go see who else is on board shall we?"

He quickly reviews what info he has about the Al'kesh that the SGC have encountered so far and there major systems, with both their sabotage and jury rigging in mind.

[Mr Fox] 12:04 am: it had been upgraded by anubis

[Mr Fox] 12:04 am: then found and coopted by the Trust

Before they leave the room, Gwyn pauses by a control panel and calls up the specifics of this particular Al'Kesh muttering, "Let's see what we have to work with shall we?"

After a moment he turns back to the others, "This is a seriously upgraded Al'Kesh. It looks like it has elements of Asgard and possibly Ancient technology incorporated into it. From what little of its records I looked at it belonged to Osiris, so I guess Anubis tricked it out."

The man being held at Zat point sneered. "You think you've accomplished anything by capturing this ship? It is just the tip of the iceberg. The Trust's plans reach far into Earths' governments as you will soon discover. You've only caused a minor setback of little consequence."

He looked at Marcus, "Your usefulness was at an end anyway. I am sure you won't survive your betrayal long."

"Shaddup with the gloatin'. Or I'll forget my manners and gag you with your large intestine." The casually-promised violence was punctuated with a hard slap to the side of the man's head. The slapping hand snatched the Zat from his hand as part of the same motion. "And bully for you: it's cool that the Trust has so many high-placed buddies, ya know? Means we get to thin them out. I can get behind less people telling us what to do." Red's grin was pure evil anticipation.

"Fuck it, I'd off most of those shitsacks even if they weren't your friends. I'm a big believer in small government. Or is that small pieces of government?" He shrugged. "We'll talk statesmanship later. You, me, and Mr K-Bar. Count on it." He looked over at Gwyn and Ari. "Unless you want me to show you guys how to make a guy choke on his own blood from a single hit right now, of course. Say the word, Welsh, and I'll make this guy sing higher than this crate can fly."

Somehow, all three of the listeners had no doubts whatsoever that Red was deadly serious.

Her/his eyebrow's arched at Red's spiel, and she swallowed back her nervousness, doing a pretty good job of not letting it show. Of course, acting a little nervous was in-character for her current role, so it wasn't too out of place if she looked less than comfortable from Red's offer.

"I, uh.. don't think that's quite necessary at the moment. Do stick close in case I change my mind, though..."

Aradia and Red both noticed a small grey blur out of the corner of their eyes dart out from below the corpse of one of the men and slither very quickly around the corner and back into the cargo bay.

((Init rolls please and trying to hit it will be at a +3 difficulty, yeah I know I said 2 in chat the other day Dec, but I got to thinking it's really small and squirmy.))

The goa'uld was fast, but not quite fast enough. Red's head snapped round to follow it's movements, quicksilver eyes glinting. His hand was even faster, and the flare of a Zat shot lit up the cargo bay, the bolt of energy finding it's mark in the slimy grey body of the parasite. A nanosecond later and a second bolt slammed into the defenceless goa'uld before it had even finished flopping.

The prisoner got a very mean angry look on his face and then his eyes lit up with the infamous Goa'uld glow for a second and his voice took on the deep echoing quality, "You will take me to your superiors now, such high handed insolent actions will not be tolerated." His demeanor became very arrogant suddenly.

Red threw a quizzical glance at Aradia and Red, then back at the Gou'uld. "That's a nice trick. The voice thing. You should do movie trailers, motherfuckers in Hollywood would pay for that shit." He grinned like a razor-blade. "Can you do it with only one working lung?"

"What are-?" the goa'uld asked, but Red's hand was already blurring in a short, precise motion. There was a sickening crack as the bottom two ribs on the right side of his chest caved in, penetrating the right lung and causing the parasite-infested body to collapse with a wheezing scream. Grinning merrily, Red hunkered down next to to the moaning 'man'.

"Aw, don't fret. You'll live." The killer told the alien casually. "C'mon. Don't tell me a punctured lung is gonna slow down the master race? Walk it off, you'll be fine." He prodded the moaning form with a booted toe, then mock-pouted. "No? Ah well. For the record, though..." Red stood, levelling the Zat at the goa'uld as it stared up at him. "I don't have any 'superiors', asshole. But you'll meet some people with more brass on their hats. That do for you?" Without waiting for an answer, he fired the Zat into the recumbant body.

He turned away to Ari and Gwyn, who were staring at him. "Let's get this crate back to HQ."

The aftermath of the Washington incident was mixed. The President used the incident to do a little house cleaning of the US representatives. The new appointee had specific instructions to be as helpful to the SGC's command structure as possible while still providing the necessary oversight, unfortunately the US government didn't have any power to remove the representatives from other nations. Marcus Higgenbottom was remanded to the custody of the US Justice Deparment with special handling instructions. Finally, General O'Neill received a briefing on the disposition of the various other specialists who had disappeared. The information was still classified and not shared with others even General Landry, but at least someone within the SGC command structure was able to monitor their condition and status.

The teams were relocated back to the SGC via the cloaked Alkesh and the guys at area 51 were itching to get their hands on the tech, but for the moment the ship would remain in orbit.
