Aberrant RPG - Cue the music...

Fortune's Son

Recommended Posts

Just a short silly curiosity question here.

Catching up on the forums since I returned to the states yesterday, I was reading Jordan Rossi's new piece while listening to tunes and was struck by how appropriate the Koreger/Scott song HERO (Spiderman) seemed for that character in the story.

So the question is; what would your character's personal theme be? Alternately what would you think of some of the other characters?

For instance;

  • Apep; Living Dead Girl (Rob Zombie)
  • Bai Hsi; She Bangs (Rickie Martin)
  • Doc Cornelius; Weird Science (Oingo Boingo)
  • Father Ryan; Sadness (Enigma)
  • Jack Chance; Harder to Breathe (Maroon5)
  • Jordan Rossi; Hero (Kroeger/Scott)
  • Prodigy; I Want It All (Queen)
  • Teknokat; Steve McQueen (Sheryl Crow)
  • Vile Bile; Hot in Herre (Nelly)

Well, Cin's song is "I Feel" by the Artifical Joy Club. It describes Cin and her attitude to PERFECTLY. Her fight song, "Enemy" by Disturbed, also suits her well in combat.

As far as others here, lemme check through my music. I'll get back to you.

Truthfully I don't know that much about Preston. He turned up when I was absent.

Hmm.

It really depends on what aspect of Preston you want to stress but here's some thoughts:

Cult of Personality - Living Color.

The Heat is One - Glenn Frey.

Working Class Hero - Cyndi Lauper

Riding the Storm Out - REO Speedwagon

Missionary Man - Eurythmics

Where The Streets Have No Name - U2

... or something like Black Suits Comin' by Wil Smith with different lyrics.

You read my mind, I was actually going to post the same thing! Really, I was at work today looking at the overstock on certain used cd's and there siting in front of me were twenty copies of Aqua. And I thought of little Endeavor. How perfect it fits. Well, either that or "Futari no Gomen" from Excel Saga, although I have no idea how it translates, it just sounds right.

I can't say I've ever heard your pick for Apep, but the lyrics are interesting, I'll have to check it out.

I can tell you from gaming with him that “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down is the theme for Asche Lonn,

What about..

"Cowboy" or "Bawitdaba" from Kid Rock for Vile Bill

“Beautiful” by Joydrop for Graveyard Jill and “Black Rain” by Stained for Jack Chance & Graveyad Jill (Am I grasping here?)

“Bitch” by Republica for Pump

I've actually thought of taking some Anime and Jpop tracks for E-Chan's soundtrack.
I've considered Endeavor's "boot up" sequence in the Yggrasil alcove. I IMMEDIATELY went for the "King Of Hearts" track from G-Gundam. Watch when Domun starts up his "trace system" and you'll get a taste of what the Yggdrasil interface looks like.
Excel Saga? O_o; Oh god, you mentioned one of my addictions! THERE IS NO RULE #7!!!

Much like Preston, I don't know that much about Twist other than being a non-DeVries Elite and a teleporter. That is, I really don't know Twist as a person. With Preston you can at least hazard a guesse based on his loud and vitriolic personality but Twist is so much quieter that its difficult to hazard even a guess.

I have trouble actually thinking of one for Prodigy.

Currently, in the mood I'm in, I think that John Mellancamp's 'The Full Catastrophe' is a possibility.

I also don't know enough about Twist to suggest anything.

Oh, for Preston how about NWA's "Fuck The Police"? Or maybe IceT's "CopKilla"?

You know, I just figured out Stigmata's music selection. Think Insane Clown Posse. Just hearing her discription made me think of hearing "Drunken Ninja Masters" in the background. Not to mention ICP is out of Detroit. Making it fit even more.

Still figuring out MY soundtrack though. -_-;

Totem is "The Beast in me" Sang by either Nick Lowe or Johnny Cash. Both versions are excellent.

Here are my guesses for everyone else.

Long - 'Eye of the Tiger' by Survivor. (That's just to obvious)

TimeSlip - 'Time' by Pink Floyd.

Amped - 'Sedated' by the Ramones. (Boy needs to slow down)

Tarot - 'Asshole' by Denis Leary. (Well it works for me anyway)

Psimon - Would a funeral march work?

Digigeist - 'Tub Thumping' by Chumbawamba (sorry but it works)

Salamander - 'Burn' by the Cure.

Neil - 'Hurt' by Nine inch Nails or Johnny Cash's cover of it. (which I like better)

Slattern - 'Closer' by NIN

Oh and let us not forget.

Apep - 'Love me like a Reptile' by Motorhead... (Sometimes the song just fits to well.)

Preston-Tom Petty's "Wont back down"

Dreamner -Gioia's "from the inside". Hell that could work for Slattern.

Totem "Devil in side"

Salamander -Client "In it for the money"

Timeslip- Moloko "The Time Is Now"

For miss Hino-Daftpunk "Technologic"

Prodigy, that would be Disturbed.

I would place some references up here as well but 80% of what I listen to, well I would literally cough up a nut if anyone else here also listened to it. SO in the mean time, I will just enjoy the posts.

When this post first started so many long years ago, I did have a character I was thinking of that went well with the song; "I'm to sexy.." by Right Said Fred but I cant for the life of me recall who it was.

Hm it seems in my sleepy-state last night I forgot to be a bit self-indulgant.

For Singularity I divided him up chronologically.

Pre-eruption: Youngstown

As an elite: More Human Than Human

From when I introduced him to now: Behind Blue Eyes

In the near future... that's a surprise. :P

Bailey is most definitely the Sinatra version of My Way .

Sam Grey is a mix of Brother In Arms , One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer , and Clocks . ETA: oopsies, I forgot No Surrender

Another song for Neil: Feel The Pain .

Salamander -Client "In it for the money"

Not knowing the song, I have no clue what it's about but the title seems to be off for my character. Reading the lyrics, it doesn't seem to fit very well either.

I always thought of Salamander being the pyromanic's love song from the Dead Milkmen, "If You Love Somebody, Set Them On Fire."

But I suppose the Cure's "Burn" is a good choice. Actually a better one. I'm not a fan of PRODIGY, so "Firestarter" kinda turns me off.

I'll have to give this some thought for the other peeps on the list.

Though whenever I think of Timeslip, I hear "Time keeps on slipping slipping slipping into the future. Do do dodo...."

Fly Like an Eagle, baby!

I'm sure he's hurt. smile

I did think these lines were a little appropriate:

I'm the trouble starter, punkin instigator
I'm the fear addicted, danger illustrated
...
I'm the bitch you hated, filth infatuated, yeah
I'm the pain you tasted, well intoxicated

But the player is most definitely the key source of approval. wink
