Spiral Descent

Spiral DescentPublisher: DramaScape

Spiral Descent

DramaScape Fantasy Volume 23

This Product is a 40 x 20 inch, full color floorplan of a pool and cave entrance.

It comes with Square, Hex and No Ovelays and includes the VTT files for online use.

“There is a pool hidden deep within the mountains. One drink from its depths can give you eternal life if that is what you seek.”

The product includes two maps. The first map is an exterior view of a plateau that leads to a spiraling stone staircase descending to a pool of water. The second map is an interior cutaway view of a cave underneath the plateau.

The product is intended for use in fantasy or modern settings.

The spiral descent can be used as an exciting way to get to the cave below or a cave or dungeon of the Game Master’s choosing. There is a very real danger of falling as the adventurers fight their way down the spiral. If they are fortunate, they land in the middle of the pool to somewhat cushion their fall. The unlucky may not survive crashing into the rocks or shallow parts of the pool below.

An adventure hook for use with this product.

Pool of Eternity: Local legends say that a pool that grants immortality is hidden deep within the mountains. A spiraling staircase descends to the pool and one drink of the waters can prevent death forever. What the local legends fail to reveal is the price. One drink of the pool grants immortality, but sunlight becomes a mortal enemy to the imbiber. This has forced most of the immortals into the dark cave next to the pool, unable to escape the mountains. If the group meets the immortals, they find most of them sad and depressed by their fate. Some immortals have become crazy and filled with hate, wishing only to inflict pain on mortals. Most notable is that their skin is fair and looks not to have aged at all, but nearly all of them have scars inflicted by the searing sun that permanently mar their bodies. Why does the pool grant immortality to those who drink from it? Is there a way to save the immortals from the curse of eternal life? Deep within the cave may be secret passages that lead to other areas within the mountains as well.

Legend: Citadel Beyond the North Wind

Legend: Citadel Beyond the North WindPublisher: Mongoose

The follow-on from the acclaimed Spider-God's Bride and Song of the Beast-Gods, Citadel Beyond the North Wind contains a sandbox setting for classic sword & sorcery adventures.

In the World of Xoth, there is a land far to the north, past the black hills of Lamu and beyond the frozen moors of Tharag Thule. It is a dreary land of mist and thunder, and the white people of Yg have dwelt there since ancient times.

Across this land, on towering hilltops and beside fog-shrouded lakes, stand somber granite castles, and therein dwell the princelings and tyrants of Yg with their countless thralls and slaves and subjects.

The free men of Yg tremble when fools dare to utter the name of Arkanth Mal, for he is the greatest and oldest of the tyrants of this primeval land. He is the witch-king of Galuga, grand master of necromancy and alchemy.

Yet there are times when drunken bards in the smoke-filled taverns of Tartuun dare to sing the forbidden song of the witch-king and his first consort, Eliyh. In his youth, the bards say, Arkanth Mal left the land of Yg and wandered east of the mountains to study sorcery. Among the Easterlings he met the witch Eliyh and was enraptured by her charms. The two dwelled in the east for several years, sharing many earthly pleasures and sorcerous secrets.

But when Arkanth Mal returned to Yg in the west, he was alone, for Eliyh was not by his side. Soon thereafter, Arkanth Mal took as his wife Verina, a princess of Lamu. Using the plentiful gold from her dowry, he purchased the loyalty of the grim hill-men of Natla.

The sorcerer and his army conquered vast tracts of the land of Yg in a series of bloody battles and protracted sieges. In the end, Arkanth Mal reigned supreme among the tyrants of Yg from his citadel of Galuga, and the princelings were forced to pay tribute to the witch-king.

However, at the moment of the sorcerer’s triumph, while he was away on his last campaign, Verina fled from Galuga for unknown reasons, and returned to the realm of her father in the south.

And now, the bards of Tartuun whisper, the witch-king of Galuga seeks a new queen. For the minions of Arkanth Mal sweep across the borders of Tharag Thule and Lamu, slaying men and taking only young women as slaves back to Galuga, the Citadel beyond the North Wind!

Fully revised for the Legend rules system.

Robots!

Robots!Publisher: Amarillo Design Bureau

THE SIXTH WORLD WAR!

The Third World War destroyed the armies; the Fourth World War destroyed the cities; and the Fifth World War destroyed all life on Earth. The space colonies survived, however, and two hundred years later man returned to Earth but not to stay — only to plunder the riches of his former world. Robots were used to salvage the ancient technological sites. One day the Robots of two salvage corporations met at a particularly valuable site, and fired on each other with their mining lasers. The Sixth World War had begun.

ROBOTS! is a science-fiction game of fast action and sudden destruction. Players construct their own Robots by combining weapons (Gun, Missile, or Laser) with chassis modules (Track, Hover, or Droid). Newly constructed Robots move out from the factory salvage ships to capture resource areas, then mine the resources to produce new Robots, which then capture more salvage areas.

ROBOTS! is an exciting game for two or more players. This classic game was published in 1980 and this PDF includes the rulebook, images for the counters, and the images for the map -- everything you need to play the game except for dice and pencil!

Planetary Tool Kit 4: Antioch

Planetary Tool Kit 4: AntiochPublisher: Zozer Games

Planetary Tool Kits are a collection of tools that you can use to build adventures, they aren’t just world write-ups but tool kits! Each includes:

  • Array of useful and imagination-catching world locations
  • Typical NPC encounters
  • Several animals with stats
  • A vehicle unique to the world
  • Character ‘personalities’
  • Encounter table
  • List of adventure seeds tailored to the world in question

‘It’s not the destination, it’s what you do when you get there!’

Antioch!

Antioch is a heavily settled colony world. Famous for its single, asteroid-impact continent, the planet has been heavily exploited for the incredible mineral wealth of platinum, petroleum and Carbon 60 fullerite found at the impact site. Today, this most wealthy and prosperous of colonial ventures is wracked by guerrilla war and civil strife. Where mining companies once flocked to make a killing, now mercenary groups drop out of orbit to make their own type of killing.

It seems as if Antioch hates humans: micro-organisms play havoc with delicate circuitry, desert dust cripple grav craft, thick jungles prove impenetrable by vehicles and aircraft, prolific, almost sentient vine growths somehow interfere with radio transmissions and seem to intentionally sabotage any machinery they encounter, alien insect and animal life infest settlements and ruin equipment.

Few places on Antioch enjoy peace and stability anymore - this is a tinderbox world, with guerrilla wars, insurgencies and corporate sponsored mercenary activity. Nothing short of complete independence for the nations of Antioch will bring peace to the troubled world, but the corporations are still hungry for the riches of the planet, and they want a return on their investments....

This world is ripe for Traveller mercenary campaigns, with a score of plots, mercenary-orientated NPCs and opportunities.

This Planetary Tool Kit is double-length, featuring five maps, colour art and sustainable play ideas!

Day in the Life: Gaming the Downtime

Day in the Life: Gaming the DowntimePublisher: Evil Beagle Games

Day in the Life: Gaming the Downtime in Shaintar and Other Savage Worlds Settings

A Savage Worlds Rules Hack by Sean Patrick Fannon

From the first page -

“Day in the Life” sessions allow a lot of different non-combat things to happen in a gameplay style that satisfies the desire to utilize character abilities and gifts while still focusing on deep story development and roleplay. To do a Day in the Life session, just get everyone at the table as usual, and ask them to think about what they want to accomplish on the day or period of time in question...

The Day in the Life rules hack makes resolving all of those between-the-adventures activities gamable and a lot more fun, with very tangible rewards and benefits as well as excellent narrative and roleplay consequences. Every player at the table will be able to choose from the following Activities for their Day in the Life session:

  • Acquire
  • Assist
  • Carouse
  • Court
  • Craft
  • Explore
  • Gamble
  • Interrogate
  • Investigate
  • Manage
  • Negotiate
  • Patrol
  • Reminisce
  • Research
  • Rest
  • Socialize
  • Train

With rewards like Adventure Cards, Bennies, Information, Contacts, and more, players will enjoy getting to play out Day in the Life sessions as much as regular adventures. GMs will greatly appreciate the added opportunities to leverage Hindrances and instigate new Plot Hooks.

Though designed initially for the Shaintar product line, GMs of any Savage Worlds setting (or, really, any game) will find this system extremely useful for their campaigns.

Goblin Uprising

Goblin UprisingPublisher: Genesis of Legend Publishing

This Playset is an accessory for the Fiasco role-playing game by Bully

Pulpit Games.

-------------------------------

The Goblins are Coming

My king, the goblins of the eastern kingdoms threaten us all. Our scouts have heard rumours of raids on the Halfling homesteads and assaults on the elven settlements in the Morkwood. Strange noises have been heard within their putrid warrens and our wizards have sensed a surge of dark energies.

As you know, the goblins are small in body but great in ambition. They have a devious cunning and an innate skill for destruction. They breed in large numbers, cast primitive sorceries, and consort with all sorts of monsters. Most dangerous of all, they have blatant disregard for their own petty lives.

Our only hope is that they are too busy fighting each other, sire.

Exotic Encounters: Mummies

Exotic Encounters: MummiesPublisher: Necromancers of the Northwest

The Pathfinder Bestiary, and the long line of monstrous encyclopedia that came before it, do a great job of attacking the problem of providing game statistics and mechanical information for a very wide variety of creatures. There are a lot of strange creatures from fantasy novels and movies, from ancient mythology, and, as time went on, from the twisted minds of game designers and even GMs, for that matter. Anyone today who tried to go about creating an extensive bestiary of all the different cool and interesting fantasy monsters could fill three or four volumes with three hundred monsters each, and still have a long way left to go, with fans crying out for various “forgotten” monsters to get some attention. That kind of breadth doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for depth, and that’s where Exotic Encounters comes in.

There are all kinds of reasons why you might not want to use a monster stat-block straight from the core rules. For one thing, if your players have a habit of browsing through such books, or are long-time veterans who know the basic ins and outs of most fantasy staples, you may need an unusual stat-block just to throw them a curve ball and teach them that they can’t count on their out of character knowledge to take all the mystery out of the game. Alternatively, many GMs can recall a time when they wanted to make use of a certain monster in their game, only to find that it was a few CRs too high or low for what they had in mind.

Exotic Encounters takes a single, iconic monster, and creates three new variants on that theme. These variants aren’t simple tweaks, and are more than simply advancing or removing Hit Dice, though that occurs as well. Each of these three variations on the monster’s theme has a specific, flavorful goal in mind, and a role to play, and their statistics entries are gently massaged in order to make them fit those roles. Further, each of these variants comes with brand new specially-crafted special abilities, which are unique to Exotic Encounters and not found anywhere else.

This particular installment of Exotic Encounters focuses on the mummy: one of the most iconic forms of undead, though one that is often difficult to reconcile with the medieval European themes of the average fantasy roleplaying game. Though we often think of Egypt when we think of mummies, the fact of the matter is that mummies of various sorts have been found historically throughout the world. For the purposes of this book, we focused on three different aspects of mummies in popular culture. The relic-bound mummy (CR 7) focuses on the concept of mummies as guardians of relics and treasures, and it is virtually impossible to steal a relicbound mummy’s relic and live to enjoy the spoils. The curse lord mummy (CR 10) instead focuses on the link between mummies and curses, and is loaded down with some very nasty and creative curses that are incredibly difficult to remove. Finally, the possessed mummy (CR 12) is actually nothing more than the corpse of an ancient warrior, who has been possessed by a fiendish entity, which uses it as a foothold to spread evil and terror through the material plane.

This edition features names with a French feel to them. Any resemblance to real names is purely coincidental and may not follow the true naming fashion of the country that inspired them.

Bite Me! Wereblooded

Bite Me! WerebloodedPublisher: Misfit Studios

Bite Me! Wereblooded presents the scions of natural lycanthropes and humanoids, designed by Ennie-award winning author, Ben McFarland. While they lack their parent's lycanthropic gifts, wereblooded share a animalistic heritage while appearing mostly—but not quite—like their unchanging humanoid parent. Truly windows to the soul, the eyes of a wereblooded reveal their bestial nature, though this subtle difference means many still manage to live hidden in larger communities or on the fringes of society. Denied this luxury, monstrous wereblooded bear the animal head of their lycanthropic parent's animal form.

A new race for your Pathfinder RPG campaign, wereblooded offer players and GMs a choice between a humanoid and a monstrous humanoid version.

Within the pages of Bite Me! Wereblooded you'll find:

●    A look at Wereblooded society, relations with other encountered races, their alignment and religion, reasons for adventuring, and possible names for male or female characters.

●    Three potential clans for Wereblooded of different stock: the cat-like felis, the wolfish lupis, and the bear-inspired ursus. Additionally, alternate racial traits, subtypes and geographical distinctions allow for further customizing of Wereblooded characters.

●   Race-specific favored class options mean characters may select alternative rewards when gaining new levels besides a simple hit point or a skill point.

●    For characters looking to temporarily take on a lycanthrope's hybrid body, the incantation of Claim the Ravenous Hunter’s Form provides a skill-based magic anyone can learn!

●   A pair of sample characters in both humanoid and monstrous humanoid versions, letting GMs scale the initial introduction of Wereblooded to their games as they see fit.

Don't wait, take the chance and get your wild on today!

Warlock

WarlockPublisher: Omegapointillist Studios

I really like how this one turned out.  I think it captures the raw eldritch/profane/arcane blastiness of the Warlock class.  And as cool as the color version is, the grayscale is also pretty neat to look at.

The .zip file contains two 300dpi TIFF files, one color and one grayscale.

Bruiser

BruiserPublisher: Omegapointillist Studios

This guy could be a very formidable NPC or monster.  Perhaps a golem of some sort, a half-ogre, maybe even a hill giant with some fashion sense.  Who knows, but he is fairly intimidating I think.

The .zip file contains two images, one color and one grayscale.

Pulp! Fantasy: Estia the Isle of Giants Adventure

Pulp! Fantasy: Estia the Isle of Giants AdventurePublisher: Beer Star Games

Pulp! Fantasy is the first line of products using the Pulp! RPG core rules engine. The core rules are exceptionally flexible and we’ll easily cover most genres. When showing it off to the world, we decided to use the most familiar for tabletop gamers.

Estia is a wild land filled with undiscovered creatures and hidden dangers. The given goal of this adventure is a simple one: acquire an artifact of the Old Ones for study. Players control powerful heroes from the very beginning, but death always lurks only a few bad rolls away. The players have the freedom to pursue their goals in any style they see fit: aggressive combat, silver-tongued diplomacy, or elaborate scheming. The Pulp! system supports these modes of play with ease, allowing you to switch from one of these tactics to another without stopping the scene to reference a separate set of rules.

We’ve released this as a Spartan styled edition, featuring a simple layout, and black and white art. It’s also released under a Creative Commons License. The money we make from this first set will help us produce future Pulp! products.

Includes:

  • The Pulp! Core rules
  • Background on the Gamer Assembly's Shattered Seas World
  • Hooks for grabbing players
  • Instructions for Adventure Play and a Random Encounter mode using the Estia Card Deck
  • A preconstructed adventure "Remnants of the Old Gods"
  • A Bonus Bestiary

The Estia Card Deck is an optional accessory for this adventure, available here: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/111956/Pulp-Fantasy-Estia-the-Isle-of-Giants-Card-Set

Blades of the Buccaneers: Swords, Foils and Cutlasses of the Sea

Blades of the Buccaneers: Swords, Foils and Cutlasses of the SeaPublisher: Healing Fireball

Arrr, matey!  For this talk like a pirate day our friend Old Pete has returned with another book of tales covering the weapons of the sea:

The life of a mariner is a dangerous one.  Sailors regularly face harsh weather and a tumultuous sea, not to mention the looming threat of sea monsters, pirates and marauding aquan societies.  So it is no wonder that a sailor’s best friend is often his trusty blade.

We here at Healing Fireball Publications are proud to present the next in our maritime-themed book series curated by our favorite sea-legged scholar Old Pete, “The Voice of the Sea”.  In this installment of Blades of the Buccaneers old Pete covers the various swords that are carried and utilized on board ships.  He also covers a wealth of maritime mechanical creations designed to aid in the sailors' trade.  Finally old Pete does what he does best and tells the stories of several powerful magical weapons and the legendary pirates that use them.

Blades of the Buccaneers: Swords, Foils and Cutlasses of the Sea contains stats for 6 of the most common blades used at sea, as well as 6 blades created for sailors using the Craft (Mechanical) skill and 6 powerful new magic swords with a distinctly pirate or nautical feel.  But that is not all: this book also includes three new devices with a maritime origin and 4 weapon modifications that will aid any sailor.  So sit back, pour yourself a nice mug of rum and let Old Pete entertain you with another selection of the stories of the sea as told by the weapons used on its waters.
