Hey, Chosen, is there a way to do tables in posts still? I tried to copy the formatting of one my character sheets that had tables, and the coding was missing. The sheet still displays as if it has tables, but if I try to change it I'm pretty sure I'll lose the tables.

If that's not a feature we have access to with the new editor, I'd like to put it up as a request when you have the time and inclination to look it over. :)

I was able to make some for my Sam Spaid character in WoDA by creating them in MS Word and then using the "paste from word" button (all the way on the right in the edit options).

If you post something new as html it will work fine.  On the full page post box there is an option for html, provided the account can use html.  PM me the links to the posts with the tables that you want to change and I'll take a look and make a backup so that you can change it without fear of losing the formatting.

I am still having issues with HTML Formatting and editing already existing posts. For example, there are days I can edit my Shadowrun Everybody Lies initial post without any issues. I click "edit", add the text, save and done.

And then there are days I click edit and the entire format and text turns into a html-mumbo-jumbo with no recognisable reason. This is driving me nuts. I just want to add a line or two in the format I already set up. Why does it work sometimes, why not? I'm using the latest Chrome-Version on all of my machines - it behaves irratic. Any ideas what it might be?

Oh, btw - I already tried to toggle editing mode on and off, using the full editor via more reply options et al. - it ends up destroying my original text. :(

Always always use the Preview option before you save something. It will tell you if your formatting is going to go FUBAR.

I did exactly that and it messes up everything I try to do so I am not saving it. What I don't get is why does it act "normally" sometimes and why messes it everything up? I'm using the same machine, same settings and it's like playing the lottery. Sometimes I can edit, sometimes I can't.

Joani,
Did you create your initial post in the forum software or paste it from something else?  Did you create it as html?

I used Word, created the tables there by drawing them on the fly and then copy/pasted it over to the Editor here.

That went more or less smoothly.

But once I try to re-edit the post it's like playing the lottery. Sometimes it works and I can easily add some new text and sometimes the whole text transforms into HTML-Gibberish.

I copied the contents of one of your tables and made a new post and edited it 25 times in firefox and an additional 25 times in chrome and had 0 issues.  There are a few possibilities, I could have been lucky, the issue is in a specific task or set of tasks or there is something being lost in the deliver or posting of the edit.

Somehow the switch that says the post is html is getting turned off.  Can you look at the images below and tell me if that is what you normally see when you go to edit your html content.Posted Image

There are thousands of forums running this software and I have gone through all of the bug reports regarding the editor and no one is saying they are having this problem.  My guess is that is because few people allow all users to upload content in html format.  The editor here is a wysiwig that is built on BBcode.  Many years ago I enabled html here because multiple people kept asking me for it.  I wasn't really in favor of enabling it back then and am not now.  There are just too many things that can go wrong.

I'll try to help figure out what the issue is and correct it, but here are some other options if we can't determine the cause.
  • Create a pdf from your word doc and attach it to the post
  • save the word doc and make your edits there, then paste the entire thing into the forum each time you need to make a change.

That's really awesome of you - and I'm really at a loss how this is even possible. I'm suspecting my workstation at work somehow messes up with IE because I'm not having these issues with Chrome or Firefox (or less frequent).

I will take your advice for now and should be fine with that - it's only one more step but that shouldn't pose much a problem. Thanks!
