Aberrant RPG - Specialization

I have a question about specializations on skills. How many extra dice does a character get for having a specialization? This is one of those areas where the books can't seem to make their minds up on. Some places say 2, others 1. I'm not sure. Please help!

Specialties only provide one extra dice to actions that relate to the specialty.

Although, I have to ask, does anyone think that specialties are almost purely there for character colour? I find that even for the tiny price they have, they don't get used nearly as much as you'd think...

It depends. People who run generalists (the majority) don't generally use them. People who run specialists (meaning me) sometimes do. It depends on if we want/need those extra 2 or 3 dice.
