Motivation: Doing Good: Sgt. Hicks is an honest abe and feels that there's too much bad guys out there these days and someone has to stand up for the greater good.

Responsibility: As Sgt. of the US-Army Hicks feels a strong responsibilty to fulfill his duty and seek justice within the boundaries of his rank.

Secret: Hicks younger sister is a mutant. So far he has managed to keep her identity secret and he is very eager to keep it that way. Of course he sympathizes with the Mutants and helps them if he doesn't jeopardize his secret.
