Day to day crime may seem trivial to a team made up of superhumans, geniuses and mythic figures who save the Earth from alien invasions and other world-ended threats, but it could not be father from the truth for the people who see the crime in their neighborhoods. They hear the screams of victims... walk around the section of sidewalks cordoned off by crime scene tape... see the junkies and pushers on the corner. Many try to live their day to day lives, try to ignore what is happening around them and let the police force struggle in near futility. They keep their eyes down, hold their purses a little tighter, walk a little faster at night, look over their shoulder more often.
Among them are a handful of people who have decides to take a stand, each for their own reasons. Some 'gifted' with special abilities and who only sought to live a normal life, some have the benefit of special training or a lifetime of study, while others are simply men and women who can no longer stand what they see on a day to day basis. They do not have a fancy headquarters, cutting edge medical staff or a vast support network. They are men and women who put their life on the line in the night fight for their city and neighborhoods on the streets, docks and in the back alleys, only to try and stitch themselves back together each morning so they can work the next day. Their efforts do not receive the praise they deserve, but they do not do it for recognition. For them, it is a battle for the soul of their city, one night at a time.
