Full Description

BESM: Nexus Prime
Earth is always a focal point in all things, Finally, one man figured out why this is, and as such, attained the power of God, taking on the moniker, GameMaster.  What he has done since is simple.   Gathering together a group of teenagers from various walks of life, each with a unique quality of their own, he has Given each of them a portion of Nexus Energy, empowering them to travel to other worlds, Setting to right things that are wrong.
That's where all of you, the Players come in.  Each of you was a normal teenager, between 17 and 19, and now you have each been given extraordinary traits.   For example, you might now have a personal mecha (something no larger than 50 feet) and the knowledge to service and pilot it as an Ace, you might possess a magical weapon, or even cybernetic enhancement.  You could maste the elements, or know true magic.   The possibilities of the Nexus, and since its power flows through each of you, you the players, are endless.

Yeah it's a short premise write up.  This game is meant to be fun, and set like an anime, expect it to run like one.  We could end up in most any type of setting  Though I will say now, the first story Arc will be a mecha-centric setting.  Each Arc is going to be called a Level, and once you clear the challenges of the Level, some you may know beforehand, and some you may discover in the Level, you'll be returned to Earth to meet with GameMaster, and receive a boon.   Death is permanent in the Levels, so if you die you die, excepting a level where a means to revive someone actually exists.  Players should still look human, regardless of what form their extraordinary qualities take on.

Character Generation
300 cp build, and since I'm nice, I will give you Base Attributes of 4 to start  (120cp value)
no dynamic powers
powerflux is allowed, but you cannot modify the duration
Max total attack and Defense value to begin is 10 (factoring in all non-circumstantial bonuses)
If I feel a power is broken, I reserve the right to ask you to change it, or remove it as needed.  I will refund points if we discover it later in game.

--Decree of Fate--  I may have a character Fail a particular roll, or for some reason a power misfires at an inopportune moment, If I do this, please don't argue, I'll have story related reasons.  Each time I have it happen, whoever it happens to will receive a bonus cp award from 1-3 points depending on the severity of this Decree of Fate.
*House Rules*

6,6 always hits and does double damage for PC's
6,6 is auto hit for anything attacking
6,6 auto defense for anything defending
1,1 always misses for attacks
1,1 always fails for power activation
1,1 always hit when rolled for defense
Defender always wins

reduced to negative HP-  characters with regeneration regenerate all negative HP in one turn, regardless of how deep they go, so long as they do not die.

The use of a healing power on someone in negative heal will always bring them up to at least 0 hp, regardless of how deep into the negatives they are.
Tough and energy bonus give you 10 hp and10 ep respectively, and each rank costs 2 cp, you may only have up to 10 ranks of each at game start.

Regeneration can be used for EP or HP, but must be decided at Character creation, You may have both kinds.

This last rule is an important one, The game is supposed to be fun for everyone, don't be a dick.  if you've got a problem come to me, I'm a pretty accomodating GM.  We're all adults, and I'm being as upfront about what the game's gonna be like as I can.  If you need help, ask, I'll do what I can.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. Vesper

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Vesper rolled her eyes and looked at the Game Master. "This is really petty," she informed him. His expression never wavered though. Expectation. Nevertheless, she persists. "Rules are only rules because you're deciding them. This is all on you." He shrugged, but nothing else changed. "Player four, signing in." Nothing. "Signing on. Checking the box. Saying okay. Giving a thumbs up." The Game Master just shook his head slightly. "Jesus fuck, man, you've got issues." Finally she gave up and said, "Player four, buying in."
  3. Tori Cannon

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Tori sucked in her lips to keep from laughing at the little Japaneses girl with the super green thumb. Still trying to keep the humor out of her voice she spoke "Player Three buying in," she said casting a glance at Vesper.
  4. Ryougi Yuuki

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Ryan earned himself a veeeery thinly veiled look of annoyance from the shrine maiden, but she held her tongue out of long practice at patience in the face of the ridiculous. "Player Two, Buying in," she replied, eager to get this started.
  5. Justin OOC

    Level 2: Might and Magic

The group went through and nothing happened, and Ryan shook his head, and smiled. "Doesn't work quite like that Yuuki. You're not Player One." He looked at the others. "When you start a game, the players don't change who's who most of the time. You all each laid claim to your spot in the order the same as me, even if it was done in various ways. You're that Player position until you die. Rules are rules I guess, so I'll start us off this time, if there's No Objections." He looked at each of them and then stated "Player One, Buying In."
  6. Ryougi Yuuki

    Level 2: Might and Magic

The shrine maiden stood up and bowed at the GM when he entered, features attentive. Yuuki brightened briefly at the prospect of a magical world this time around before her social mask recovered from it's momentary flailing. She could handle a magical world. Those kind of stories had been her bread and butter before her Mother died, and if it meshed with her powers better than the last one... All the better on every level. If she could figure out the rules in play from that, hopefully there'd be less confusion this time around. Too much could be at stake to allow that again. "Just call your mech a 'golem' around any locals, Cannon, and we should be fine, assuming they don't try to kill us for using the wrong kind of magic," she volunteered with a trace of amused caution, dredging through half-forgotten stories, "As for when we go, I assume it's when the last of us say our magic words. I think I'll start: Player One, Buying In."
  7. Tori Cannon

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Tori nodded crossing her arms under her breasts. "Well okay then. So we don't have any idea what we are supposed to do until we get there? When do we go?"
  8. Justin OOC

    Level 2: Might and Magic

"No, it should work fine, just saying aside from your phones, and the Banshee, don't expect any other real technology that you're used to seeing." The Game Master replied quietly.
  9. Tori Cannon

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Tori's head snapped up from the weird gaming book she had been perusing. "Wait, minimal technology? Does that mean Banshee won't work there?"
  10. Justin OOC

    Level 2: Might and Magic

With Vesper's arrival, the players were there, and finally the Game Master emerged from the back. "Well, I was going to introduce you to a new player today, but it appears she's running late. If she arrives before too long, I'll send her along after you." Ryan just stared at him. "Wait, you can do that?" "You aren't the only ones who get new abilities when you clear a Level, Ryan. So long as my initial four players go together, I can send up to two more as reinforcements to the same level now, if I understand it correctly." He looked at the trio of ladies. "We've got abit of time before the window closes, so I've been working to get some more information for you all. This Level is more of a traditional Fantasy world, similar to the first one you went to, Ryan." "Well at least it won't be that bad. The worst thing was the lack of plumbing, let me tell you..." The younger man nodded sagely, It was something he'd missed from this world. "You won't get the objectives until you get there, but it's a world with real magic, and minimal technology. That said it could have some surprises for you all, if you're not that familiar with Fantasy works."
  11. Vesper

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Her phone buzzed. Vesper looked over at it from where she was sprawled face-first on her bed. On the charging dock she could juuuuust see the screen. Ugh. She buried her face in the bedspread again. It was so fucking weird. Like, okay...you think having special powers would be amazing, right? Even if they did come with some weird death-ghost-thing that was constantly hovering around you. Shit, because they did! That was fucking metal! But...this whole 'game master' thing. It cheapened it. Having powers felt tawdry and almost demeaning, like they were just actors on America's Got Powers or something. And they went to other worlds and helped people and that was okay maybe but...what about THIS world? Who was helping HERE? fuuuuuuuuuuck Now they were going to do it again, and she had to do it too or she'd lose her powers or who even knew maybe she'd have to get killed or something but it didn't really matter because the fuck she was going to turn her back on psychic witchcraft shit. Even if it was starting to feel hollow, just like everything else. Grumbling under her breath, Vesper rolled over onto her back and pulled herself out of bed to get dressed. -------- She plodded through the door to the shop, having taken no effort to hurry there, and gave everyone a listless nod. She didn't have a cigarette at the moment, but that probably had everything to do with the steaming Starbucks coffee cup in her hand. "Hey," Vesper greeted noncommittally, not making eye contact with anyone as she slid down into an empty chair. She could ask what was up, or what the 'mission' was but...eh. Coffee.
  12. Ryougi Yuuki

    Level 2: Might and Magic

"Thank you for the invitation. I'll think about it if I can make the time," Yuuki replied, settling down into a chair and smoothing out her skirt, glancing away scan the book shelves and subdue the bubble of regret that she'd never find a good reason to do so. Things like this were part of the childishness she couldn't afford as part of the Duty. However... "You're welcome to visit the Shrine, too, if you want. We live in the back of the grounds, so there's always someone around, and assuming there isn't a festival around the corner, I should be able to give you a tour, a quick one at least. You could meet my brother. He'd be glad to see that I'm making friends again," the shrine maiden eagerly continued before pausing as she realized just what she said, mask cracking a little as she back pedaled, "That is... I mean... Ahem, I don't want to presume on your time. Forgive me. There's something I really need to ask the Gamemaster, and it's distracting me."
  13. Justin OOC

    Level 2: Might and Magic

"Oh it's a real store, but The Old Man has an ability to keep people away when he wants to. The better to cover up his other activities with us. Near as I can tell it's just a sort of subtle suggestive mirage. of course sometimes the truly dedicated get past it, and he'll handle them. Mostly, he's gone to actually doing sales online, and some "Game nights for Beginners" basically he sorta inverts the effect, and people who want to game come in, and learn or play the various games. Only time i've seen someone buy anything is cards." Ryan's answer was simple, and hinted at some other things. "You ought to come out, you might enjoy it, some of the games are actually pretty fun."
  14. Tori Cannon

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Tori scowled. People who were late annoyed her. but she figured it was to be expected after all with the whole nihilist Gothic thing and all. "I hope she isn't going to be too long." She looked around at all the stuff it was quite a inventory but it was also all orderly and clean very much unlike most shops of this sort she had ever been in. "We're the only ones here? Is this place a real store or just a cover?"
  15. Justin OOC

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Tori arrived not long after Yuuki, and together they went inside. It was the first time they'd really had time to look around. The shop itself was nondescript, though if anything it was in a larger building than most gameshops would be housed in. There was one vehicle there, and the sign said it was open. Two things stood out, First, it was very clean, and smelled mostly of a pine forest, which given that it was literally about ten yards from a large one, wasn't so far fetched. The second was the sheer amount of inventory. Row after row of comics, off to the left, and to the right, A long wall of miniatures for dozens of different games. The large glass counters held various single cards from many games, with a sign stating that vintage products were available by appointment. Movie memorabilia, toys, books, pretty much everything that was part of modern gaming culture was there. along the back She could see more rooms, and even tables set up. This was an enormous store, seemingly far bigger inside than out. In the back they found Ryan, seated in one of several chairs in what looked to be a small library and reading area. The books there were a mixed bag, and for his part, Ryan was reading The Lord of the Rings. He smiled up at both of them, and nodded. "Good to see you both. The Old Man's in back, trying to get abit more info for us on the new level. Vesper's not here yet, so why don't you take a seat for now, or you can look around."
  16. Tori Cannon

    Level 2: Might and Magic

Tori put down the text book she had been studying and pulled the earbuds from her ears, she glanced over at, Jodi Stanley, her roommate in the dorm, who was herself studying or supposed to be but she was on her phone texting and laughing. Probably some airhead boy. She looked at her own phone, silent and somewhat ominous on the stand by her bed next to her laptop and her keys. Her Keys and the electric key fob that didn't start her car but instead opened up a whole different world. It had been two weeks since they had gotten back from the bug level and they had all left the wizards (she couldn't bring herself to call him Game Master that was just silly, like wizard wasn't) house and gone back to their own lives. Tori didn't really know any of the others none of them did but even before the weekend had ended and she had returned to school she missed them. She guessed it was that whole sisterhood in arms thing. They had faced Life and Death Had fought side by side in a battle that the world would never understand or even believe. Yeah she missed them and she missed her Banshee. The Wizard hadn't said anything about using her mech or any of the others about using their powers but it seemed prudent not to flash those things around. So Tori had gone back to school, she studied, hung out with her usual friends, wet about business as usual. But she was subdued and what was worse none of her 'friends' seemed to even notice much less care. She found her self missing those weirdo's from the wizards house, and missing the excitement. BUZZZZZZ! Her phone vibrated and she jump with a start, glanced at her roommate who was still oblivious texting and grabbed up her phone. [ Come to the shop, we have a new Level open to us, one that I think is right up your alley. Also I have a new surprise] She read it twice then sprung to her feet and called out to Jodi "Hey I gotta go family thing don't know when I'll be back" She didn't even register Jodi's response or if she even gave one, she was already half out the door when she skidded to a stop. "Oh yeah gonna need these!" She race back to her night stand and scooped up her keys and with a thought her laptop as well. "See ya!" She called again and then she was out the door and on her way to the next adventure!
  17. Sakura

    OOC: Character Thread

Name: Sakura Sonja Terra akura grew up in california, raised and taught by her mother and uncle, she has never meet her father and her mother has rarely been willing to speak of him, though she appears to still care for him. Both her mother and her uncle are acomplished martial artists and run a dojo where they teach the martial arts. As she grew up, she became an excellent martial artist herself, though she favors the sword as a weapon, and has studied both kendo and fencing. She loves song and dance as well, and with regards to her schooling she has taken both as electices in high school. On a different note, she’s smart, incredibly beautiful and generally kind, especially with young children and animals. She would be one of the ‘in’ crowd in school, if she didn’t find the various divisions of high school kids rather annoying, and she has a significant distaste for bullies, enough that she has interfered a time or two at school, and has encouraged some of the students to come learning martial arts at her family’s dojo. Sakura does know that her family is keeping some secret regarding her from her, but she knows they love her and trusts that someday they will tell her what it is. She does have some desire to find out more about her father, but is at of yet unwilling to press the issue.
  18. Ryougi Yuuki

    Level 2: Might and Magic

The moment she received the GM's text was both the most terrifying and most happy one she'd had in two weeks. Going back to the Shrine, to being The Ryougi Shrine Maiden, after helping to save an entire world was awful in it's way, like tossing tar on the fabric of almost forgotten dreams. There had been the fear of pain and death, of course, but it had been bright and colorful and so much more than the mundane expectations of the Duty. It all dragged on her, even more weight on her shoulders that she struggled to keep out of her duties and ritual performances. There was always something that needed doing, Ryougis were the unshakeable pillar of the Sapporo shrine, and she wouldn't let something as... childish as disappointed boredom drag her down. Her brother had noticed, of course, despite her best smiles and polite deflections. He always did when she was down, even if the Grandaunts and their oft-absent Father didn't. Something about her sweeping the leaves a fraction slower than usual or pausing too long to pick the best possible words to describe her day. Yuuki didn't know what she'd do without him. That's what fed the terror half of her reaction to the call. She'd been able to hold her tongue, barely, against her brother's questions and concerned looks, to keep her secret, but the very real danger she'd just vanish on him and might not ever come back... That would be cruel, so if there was a way she could get away with telling him without breaking the GM's rules... It couldn't hurt to ask? Right. That determination gave speed to her feet after getting off the bus and focus to her brown eyes. She turned the final corner and approached the shop, knocking twice before opening the door and slipping inside, scanning the room for anyone who beat her there.
  19. It had been two weeks since they returned from their fist mission, and Everyone was enjoying life at home, the calmness of normalcy. Each of them hadn't been called that entire time, so when they received a text from the Gamemaster, it was met with varying responses. "Come to the shop, we have a new Level open to us, one that I think is right up your alley. Also I have a new surprise." For Ryan's part, he closed the phone and sighed. He was at his old home, and quickly head out to the shop to await the others. He'd not really seen any of his fellow players since coming home, mostly he just spent his time catching up on the world's progress since he was last there. "I wonder what he's got in store for us this time." he spoke softly as he head for the shop.
  20. Justin OOC

    Level 1: Mecha and Monsters

Ryan chuckled, but whatever comment was on his mind stayed there as the Gamemaster spoke. "It's been only six hours since you left, so you're all free to go home, except you Ryan." The older teen just looked at him. "You've been gone a year Ryan, everyone thinks your dead. More than that, you were in that world for over 4 years, you don't look at all like you did before you left." "So I can't go home to my family." "No, son, there's no home to go back to. Your family moved away six months ago. It was sentimental on my part, but I bought your home, and have maintained it as mine. Your things are gone, but If you wish to stay there, then it is the least I can do for you." Ryan seemed sad for the first time they'd known him. "Alright, but just for awhile. I gotta get used to this, being alive when they think I'm dead. Will I ever be able to see them?" The Gamemaster looked at him squarely. "Only time will tell." He sighed, and Ryan looked to the other three players. "You three should all go home too. There's no telling when we'll be called again, so let's enjoy this time home." He gave them a small smile. "We don't have to be strangers here, we can always get ahold of each other thanks to the phones." After hearing what this had cost Ryan, the other three were mostly mute, the implications weren't lost on any of them. Their lives as the Gamemaster's players were only just beginning, and while they did gain from it, they could stand to lose from it just as much. Ends this chapter, 10 cp for everyone
  21. Ryougi Yuuki

    Level 1: Mecha and Monsters

Door closed and locked behind her, Yuuki exhaled and looked at her reflection, or at least the reflection of the stranger the Gamemaster's gift let her become. Not a stranger she wanted to walk around as in the 'real world', especially since she was wearing something so embarrassing. What if someone had seen her? She breathed in and out again, calming the fear by inches. Well, fear and a shade of temptation. She didn't *have* to change back, she didn't think. Just walk away from the shrine and everything... Help people. The whole thing had been... fun. Terrifying but fun. If she find someone to... No. No. Bad. She had the Duty. Yuuki clapped her cheeks to clear away the distracting thoughts. "Spring Ends and Petals Fall," she intoned and felt the taunt strings of energy fall away from her, a storm of shining sakura petals flooding her vision. When it ended, and the last of the glow faded, a far more familiar face stared back at her, immaculate of all the traces of her journey. An unlocked door later, the mousy Ryougi Yuki they met at the start of this rejoined the group, looking up at them with a smile that didn't quite reach her brown eyes. "My apologies," she offered with a slight bow, "I didn't want to ruin things by drawing the wrong kind of attention."
  22. Justin OOC

    Level 1: Mecha and Monsters

The GameMaster smiled at all of them. "I trust that you completed the tasks, and since you're all in one piece, You're not Injured, well no moreso than you can heal in your case, Ryan." The Older teen shrugged. "Yeah I'll be fine in an hour or so Old Man. So where's the payout?" When the other two looked at him he nodded. "That's the deal, we get more power with each level we clear, or at least that was the explanation I got. So here we are, back from the Level and I'm interested to see what happens. i mean technically I already beat one before, so I guess getting to come back was my reward for that one, but this time was an actual completion." The GameMaster nodded. "You are correct Ryan, Your powers will increase in some way. How exactly I do not know. When Yuuki returns, we can go through the process together." The GameMaster looked to Tori and Vesper. "This is most certainly real, and you are home as it were. I use the terms "Levels" and "Players" because it makes things somewhat easier to think of. You are effectively my champions, fighting to achieve objectives across a nearly infinite multiverse of plane and worlds within them. Your success is mine, and in return my power is yours. If you fall, I can never recover that lost power, and without sufficient power, There can be no players or champions, and the damage done to the multiverse will never be repaired. Whole planes will be lost, and this diminishes all that exists." "This is the grandest of games, played for the fate of everything. I cannot fight directly and so I invested each of you with some of my power to fight for me. Of course you can each awaken new abilities, beyond what I have granted, and with each Level Cleared, I gain power that I can then share with you as well."
  23. Ryougi Yuuki

    Level 1: Mecha and Monsters

Once she gathered where they were, the shrine maiden's golden eyes widened in alarm, her voice urgent as she bowed slightly, "Gamemaster-Sama. May I use your restroom?" The old man chuckled and waved a hand in the general direction of the shop's rear, and Yuuki darted that way, green hair swooshing behind her, smell of blossoms trailing in her wake. The door slammed to mark her entry into the aforementioned room.

  25. Tori Cannon

    Level 1: Mecha and Monsters

"That, weird goth chick, is an understatement." mumbled Tori as she too stared at the suddenly altered enviroment.
  26. Vesper

    Level 1: Mecha and Monsters

Vesper looked around, then looked at her hand. "So...is this real? Or some kind of weird dimension made up Matrix level stuff?" she wants to know. "It seems real? But then you're over here calling it 'levels' and it's weird."
